Hi, I have an old version of Effectslab Lite (Bought it maybe 3 years ago), and I recently decided to reinstall it.

The product's fun, believe me, but there IS a problem I have been having with importing FXpresets.

I downloaded one of the new FXpresets (An Iron Man effect, I believe), and I tried to import it. For a split second, a progress bar showing the import progress appears then disappears before I can even read it. I checked every category, and it seems like the FXpreset isn't there!

Please help! I want to make movies for fun, but with this problem happening, it's almost impossible! wall

Try downloading the latest installer from this site. You should have acces to it through your user account. "My Account"

Thanks, Spyder, but I HAVE downloaded the installer from 'My Registered Programs' I'm starting to think the new presets and grading features are not supported on Effectslab Lite. If that is the case, then I hope I can get Pro for free, since I don't want to pay for another product. sad

Those presets, (the newer ones) aren't supported (as far as I know) and you can't get pro for free. The Lite product, was discontinued some time ago, maybe 2008, or 2009, and you can upgrade from the lite to the pro for a lesser fee than just buying a brand new product. I think it is $75 (USD).

Good luck!

Definately NOT what I wanted to hear. disgust But if I can get it for $75, that seems pretty damn cheap, so I may just look into that. If I don't have the money, I'm going to just use AlamDV plugins. Thanks, all. wink

Well I just figured out your problem... just by paying attention and actually reading your 2nd to last post. You can't use "grading" presets in Effects lab because those presets were made in either Compositelab or Visionlab and only work with those programs. So whatever particular presets you are trying to install... you need to make sure that they were made to work in Effectslab.

Well, there are a fair number of grading presets available for EffectsLab Lite as well, but there is far fewer than are available for the other programs, as EffectsLab Lite had a much more limited number of filters available. This was always the case, and even when EffectsLab Lite was new, there was a large number of presets that it wasn't compatible with.

The tricky part is that since the last update to EffectsLab Lite was in 2006, and the program itself was discontinued a fair few years ago, there is no longer any indication of which presets are compatible with the Lite version.

Unfortunately, its been so long since the Lite version was discontinued, that I'm not sure that there is even an upgrade price available any longer.

Since every grading preset available in the Preset Library lists every one of the filters and features it uses on the website, if you find one that isn't compatible, you may be able to achieve results that are similar by examining the filters used to create it, and getting creative in the Lite version.

This might actually be a problem with the import rather than something due to the specific version. Preset import can have problems if the software is being run in an environment without full administrator access.

You might want to try a clean reinstall:
