Personally I never used this lens, so I can't really tell you anything about it. But if it is the "Sigma AF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO macro" you are looking for, there is a very detailed test on:

http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/326-sigma-af-70-300mm-f4-56-apo-dg-macro-test-report--review

If you like details, you will find those here. If you are looking for a quick overview, just jump to the last page for a test summary. Maybe this will help you with the decision.

I had this lens on a nikon for many years. I guess it depends what your requirement are of the lens. It got the job done at a good price for me. I recently upgraded both camera and that particular lens also, I now have a Nikon 70-300VR

The only issues I had with the sigma were the macro switch was a bit fussy about turning on and off and the zoom was a little stiff for my taste. Having said that the Nikon isn't much smoother in that respect.

Overall as a good budget zoom I would recommend it.
