A friend of mine showed me this page, and the pictures are very cool... They seem to be animated in a way that one or two aspects of the photo "come to life."

Interesting! Some are definitely more successful than others. A few may as well just be video clips, but some of the subtler movements, or the ones in which the rest of the frame is evidently a still, work really nicely.
