When ever i put any video of good quality in the program it lowers the quality! I use a Cannon PowerShot SX100IS 8.0 megapixels 10x optical zoom.

Firstly, its very important to understand that a 8 megapixel powershot dos not record video at 8 megapixels. That info relates specifically to still images, and has nothing to do with its video capabilities.

That being said, the quality of the3 footage has everything to do with the codec that is used to compress it. As Micah mentioned, if you have the canvas quality set low, the footage will display at a lower resolution, which allows for faster speed in the program. This doesn't have any impact on the actual quality of the footage though. However, since importing the footage into EffectsLab can't possibly have a negative impact on the quality of your footage, this would be the first thing to check.
