been playing with hitfilm tried to export crashes every time. This always happened with visionlab too. the problem wasnt solved in visionlab and so i boight after effects which never has a problem. I wouldnt expect less from hitfilm on launch. without being about to seamlessly render theres no point.

Can you give us some more details over at HitFilm.com? If HitFilm asked you to send a bug report please do so.
The development team are sleeping at the moment but they will be looking at any reported bugs first thing in the morning. This is brand new software (nothing is shared with VisionLab) and there might be a few bugs we need to iron out really quickly so please bare us on this one.
What were you trying to render? Which effects? What resolution was your timeline? What are the specs of your computer?

I sent the bug reports. It doenst matter what resolution I choose it still crashes. I have a radeon card HD5700 as giving best performance im using windows 7 64 bit HD5700 with an intel i7 processor. ive done the bug reports. it doesnt matter what format i render to either. and i should be able to render to any file type or resolution as with any others software

I'm out tonight so quickly firing off a few more details.
the video formant was avchd files the crash occrures whether i select render as avi, mp4 or image sequence. select file name then this program has stopped working and is forced to close. all files work fine in vegas and after effects.
I can use all the tools and presets the workflow seems very speedy even compared to after effects though at times there is some lag.
Its just the same problem as Ive had with visionlab in the past.
click render or in this case export at the program crashes.
i downloaded teh 64 bit version and registering was a pain as it wouldnt recognise my password until i changed it then there was a server error and it didnt activate until I used creat an account and then selected the activate online with licence key option.
Its as though its activated but still wont render anything as its blocked still if that makes sense. What else can I tell you as this was my biggest concern but i thought you'd have dealt with compatability issues with older software faced with the new product. Help

Hey Mike. HitFilm doesn't share a single line of code with VisionLab, so any problems you encounter aren't connected to problems you encountered with VisionLab, even if they seem similar.
Regardless, we don't want there to be any bugs, so the devs are working really hard to fix problems.
Do you get the export crashes if you export a simple project with a single plane in it? ie, no AVCHD video.
Do you get the crash if you use a different type of video in your project?
When activating did you initially try to use your FXhome.com login details? This wouldn't work as HitFilm uses a new accounts system. This is probably why your password didn't work.

no i registered a hitfilm account but on activation it didnt recognise it and said my pasword or email was wrong. it wasnt. i selected ne account and got the option get get the licence key file and then it pulled up my original email address and account for hitfilm. a bit of a long winded way, but i managed to get around it.
Ive tried it with just an image it just crashes. it really is as simply as that as though even though the software has been activated and the export to computer no lobegr blanked out when you try do do that it wont get passed saving a file name at which point no matter what im rendering it crashes or what format or dimensions im trying to export to whether they match or not.
I know hitfilm isnt after effects but id least expect it to be able to export files (render them)
i would never have attempted to use my fxhome login details
i can try a different format ( that of my canon 600d) but then I thought hitfilm could handle multiple file formats and render to them?
I wouldnt want to degrade my footage by constantly having to render it in a suitabel format kind of defeats the object of hitfilms all in one solution.
what happens to the bug reports when they are sent of?

I believe this is the first case we've had of export having problems, it's not something we encountered on our test machines or during beta testing.
The bug logs are sent directly to the developers here.

Well its happening and ive just sent another bug report.
Really not being funny but in short makes the software useless if it cant render.

I read on HitFilm.com that updating your drivers to the most recent version fixed your problems. Is this correct? If so that is great news

yes it did they released a new drivere recently maybe my visionlab will work again too. I bought hitfilm as soon as i saw it was released.
off topic question while im here. Where are the deflectors?

Again, HitFilm.com is the place to discuss HitFilm. Deflectors are available within particle effects. Open them up on the timeline, and you can add deflectors there. Or, in the same way, you can access them from the Controls panel for the particle effect.
