I installed the demo, but when I tried to run it, I got a message that my video card was not good enough etc. I have a voucher code (donated by a kind person from these boards and I want to use it ASAP), but I can't use it yet because I need a better video card.

I have a Quad Core Intel (Q6600) PC with 4GB ram, so I know that will be good enough to run HitFilm, but my ATI graphics card is letting me down.

I need to buy a new one, but I'm confused. My motherboard says that it supports 'PCI express x 16 slots', but the nVidia card I am looking to buy says it is a 'PCI Express 2.0 x16' card.

Do you know if this card work on my motherboard? Basically, would a PCIe 2.0 x16 card work in a PCIe x 16 motherboard?

I've moved this thread, since it has nothing to do with the FXhome Film Project. Also, the HitFilm support forum over at http://hitfilm.com is the best place to discuss issues with HitFilm. There is already a fair bit of discussion on the forums there regarding video cards which you could read through and might find some useful info.

As to your actual question, I'm not familiar enough with the hardware to know. Someone else will get you an answer, I'm sure.

As Axeman suggests, if you head over to the HitFilm.com support section the guys there can help you out.
