Flame glow

So, I'm going a side project about element bending blah blah blah.
Anyway, the two Antagonists are able to blasts flames out of their hands, feet, and mouth. So obviously, fire has a glow. Would I be able to acomplish said glow with a bit of color grading and masking? I thought about using a flash light, but then, with further thought, found that this was a bad idea. So, any suggestions? Opinions on MY idea to do it?

With lighting effects like this, creating it on-set will almost always look better, as the brightness of the glow is going to create shadows as well. Creating a brighter area in post, not too difficult, but creating shadows in post, much trickier and more time consuming to get right.

But not impossible. Take a look at the spotlight preset (its a neon effect), and you can change the shape to brighten an area of the frame whatever shape the fire requires. You can also change the color around to get it to more accurately match the fire. But most likely you will also want a bit of a 'thicker' colored glow as well, which I would probably use an optics effect for, or possibly a more standard neon light with a very heavy feather, and low opacity.

Well, one reason I didn't want to do it on set, is that we don't have a flashlight with a blue light (or any blue lights for that matter) Also, I believe I overlooked something. The scenes with the flames will take place during school hours, so it will be broad day light, so the glow is very faint. I thought about using an optic, as Axeman said.
