Hello,

I have made a beta installer for Windows users today which includes some changes to how printing works.

Some of you have been reporting issues when printing using certain dye sub printers such as the Kodak 6800 and or ink jets like the Canon Pixma Pro9000 where it wouldn't print from a certain orientation. I have changed the printing process which now uses the Windows native photo wizard after discovering a bug in our third party framework software. This bug was found to be Windows only.

You can download these installers here:

PhotoKey 4
http://tim.fxhome.com/FXhome_PhotoKey_4.1.0004_Installer.exe

PhotoKey 4 Pro
http://tim.fxhome.com/FXhome_PhotoKey_Pro_4.1.0004_Installer.exe

If anyone has experienced any problems printing could you please try out these new installers and let me know if the change resolves these issues.

Thank you

Hi
I have tried this installer (see my reply on my original post http://fxhome.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=420496#420496 ) is this a temporary fix or will you be reverting back to the original framework software once your third party supplier has resolved the issues?
Many thanks

We won't be reverting back as there is no sign that a fix will be produced by the third parties. This is the best fix.

I will try to use today...

Very frustrated.... just bought software, and using for the first time this weekend. I did sample runs and prints using a DNP DS40 and no probs printing 4 x 6. The only exception was that the orientation seemed to be messed up in the settings.

At my event, I could not get my DNP DS80 to print out an 8 x 12. It would not work..... the orientation was off and only printed one side of the image..... Very Bad.....

I hope this fix works... I have 2 more days at this event and not being able to print 8 x 12 is going to kill my profitability.......

Thanks
Richard

Hi Richard

I sympathise with you we were caught out at an event just like you say which sparked of the whole episode with Fxhome. We have tried the fix briefly and it seemed to work. Having just returned home to the UK I will be doing some more in depth trials with this fix. Will let you know how it proceeds. I wish you well with your event. We to have invested in a DNP DS40 great printer.

Additional observations regarding this new update.

On my laptop, which runs Win XP Pro it worked fine. The only comment is that is very slow for the printer interface to engage.

On my desktop, Win Vista Home Premium 64bit.... it is very unstable. It hangs on almost every command. It has also crashed on a few occasions.

I'm continuing to use this update on my laptop running windows XP. It is stable but very very slow to print. Actually it is slow to execute the windows print engine. Are there any additional updates or changes in the works? I was batch printing yesterday at an event, and to print about 300 images of different sizes 4x6 and 8x12, I easily lost an hour of time due to the delays.

Since my last post, I did update my software on my vista machine and it runs very nicely. No noticeable speed issues printing.

As far as we know the release version of PhotoKey 4 is working fine now since we updated it. If it is running slower on the XP laptop than the Vista machine I would imagine it is because it is a much older slower computer and/or that the printing engine in Windows doesn't perform so well.
