I need to remove the background all together and have the picture as cut out. The green screen is removed when it is imported onto the canvas but when I batch and save it as a JPEG (the manner I need for my publication) there is a background (typically white). I need no background at all! Help!

Its not possible to create a jpeg with transparency, the format will not allow it. If you export your foreground as a .png, then you will get transparency wherever the greenscreen was removed. But no program in the world can create a jpeg with transparency.

I too would enjoy a better mechanism to acquire a 'cut-out' for usage in other programs. I am surprised to learn that my 'lite' version does a significantly better job of removing green from hair in portraits than a more expensive program - Perfect Mask 5 - that I just purchased. It does allow you to save the result in a PSD file which is almost like the same thing as an available 'cut-out'. Maybe the ability to save to a PSD file would be in the works?! I don't have a problem purchasing a more expensive version of PhotoKey software. However, it will have to improve my ability to handle photographs for my needs. As it is, I can save to PNG, JPEG or Tiff and bring the file into Photoshop Elements and remove the 'white' with minor effort.

PNG allows you to save the foreground with transparency, so that no white needs to be removed in Photoshop or whatever other editor you want to use. As long as you don't have a background, then any PNG you export will embed the transparency info into the file.

It was not my experience this afternoon. I tried a green screen photo and exported the 'cut-out' without a background as a 'PNG' file. It still showed as a white background when I brought it into PSE. I went back and did it again. This time I noticed a button to click which would have kept the transparancy. However, I have to upgrade from 'Lite' to photokey 2 - which I assume would be now photokey 4. Apparently, one cannot export a photo with the transparency from Photo Key Lite.

Yes, a full version of PhotoKey is required to export with an alpha channel (therefore a transparent background). smile
