It would seem that everybody has been busy recently - both you and us. We recently shot through the 500 plugins mark, which is really quite remarkable. Over 500 freely downloadable effects, with more being made by talented plugin makers every day.

We've got several new things in the pipeline, including a revamp of the cinema section which should make it better looking and easier to navigate, hopefully increasing the number of times your movies are watched.

There has been much debate regarding the '3D' rendered plugins recently. It would seem that many people want to see more 2D plugins, such as the light and flame effects. With the time fast approaching when we shall be surrounded once more by swords and wizards and trolls and orcs, as the Winter release dates of Harry Potter And The Chamber of Secrets and The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers draw ever closer, this is a good time to stock up on our magic, energy and light effects.

If all plugin makers could start to focus their considerable efforts upon creating Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings themed plugins it would be greatly appreciated by the team.

By ensuring we have a good selection of magical plugins available by Harry Potter's November release we can be sure to guard against whatever perils await us in the Chamber of Secrets.

We have a little longer to prepare for Sauron's return, but if we have enough plugins inspired by the books and films by December we should be able to hold our own against the Dark Lord...

We'll be handing out prizes for the best Harry Potter effect and the best Lord of the Rings effect. There are also plans afoot for a fantasy-themed short film competition as we draw nearer to Christmas. We'll also be using the best effects in our upcoming promotional trailers, so get your wizard hats on and start conjuring!

Some ideas for The Lord of the Rings effects:

    The Eye of Sauron
The glow of Sting (Frodo's sword)
    Balrog flame effects
The flame of Anor, as wielded by Gandalf on the bridge of Khazad-Dum
Gandalf's glowing staff (as seen in Moria)
    The Balrog's sword and whip
    The One Ring

Some ideas for Harry Potter effects:

Various magic effects as seen in the wand shop and lessons
    The Golden Snitch
    Brooms
    Various other Quidditch-related effects

Glad to see you're already on the case, b4uask30male. I expected nothing less! smile

Regarding the ring spinning - be sure it is spinning in the centre of the quad. Spinning on the spot, in other words. Then people can use alamdv to animate its motion. I've noticed some recent plugins have an animation such as a walking creature, but they actually have the creature walk in one side of the quad and out the other - making it difficult to use. If you just have the creature walking on the spot centrally, then the user can place it as they wish.

Combining a real ring with alamdv rings could work quite nicely - if you want to do the effect of it resizing for a new bearer, for example. It might be an idea to do a glowing ring as well.

Another idea for a plugin might be some kind of overlay that simulates the effect you see when you put on the ring.

Anyway, good luck everybody. This task has been appointed to you, and if you shall fail, then none will succeed. wink

Hi

uploading the ring bits now.

I did the walking across the screen a long tim ago, but all my new plugins are on the spot. ( sorry )
I done the ring in a slow motion kinda effect, so if someone had a gold ring they could use in their hand then throw it, cut to a shot above the actor ( looking up ) then add this ring, it would look very good.

( like the scen in the bar, where frodo lets go it flies in the air and lands on his fingure )

Dang! That's what I call smart marketing! cool

But watch out for copyright junk! You might shut CSB down by calling a plugin the actual name er something - try "This effect is similar to ____ in ______."

I still need those bullet hits, you know! lol
