Good work. I made an Street Fighter sort of thing a couple of years ago. and i think if u want it to look more like a videogame. look at example Tekken 4 and see how smooth the camera moves. and u can also take away some frames so it looks like it moving more like a bot.
But nice work biggrin

I liked it,

Some thought has gone into this, and the fx were spot on.

my 4 = 5 when it's a trailer.

great.

Ok come on guys...I'm really hoping I can have a position in the top ten with this movie- Please vote if you see it and help me out.. THANKS! biggrin

Oh, by the way- the real movie is going to ROCK! I left out a bunch of stuff on the trailer so it will be a surprise. For those of you who haven't seen the show Reboot, This story is based on that idea.

The Final city, characters, and gamecube in the intro sequence will be done in 3D studio max for the final movie....so don't be fooled by the cheesy clips you see in this one

I know that there was a discussion recently about over rating movies which I completely agree with....but it's COMPLETELY alright if you give my movie 5 stars wink

Some very nice looking composit-shots and cool design... Pity that many things are clearly visible 2D-stills and the real life shots cannot match with the well done design of the composit-shots. But some cool ideas in that one!

Looking fowrad to see the whole thing too.

If it's a trailer, do you think it should be in the top ten, what if it gets to no.1

what about the full film, where would that go..

Well,

I just look at "Fall of the Jedi" which is also a trailer, and personally I thought it was pretty lame....I LOVED the music, I'm all about E.S. Posthumus considering I've used it in both of my movies so far, but the plot, acting, dialogue, was SO lame....not to mention every freaking thing in that movie trailer has been done before

my movie is completely and utterly original, it got accepted on fanfilms but they are waiting for me to finish the full movie before they put up this trailer on the site....I should have waited until i had footage from 3DS Max but I just got too anxious.

Anyway, I just feel that based on the originality and use of effects in this, that is what should be looked at....I'm sick and tired of movies that are excuses for using effects with hardly any kind of a story that is interesting

Whoa....I don't mind telling you that this video rocks the face off of most of the other films here...too bad it's only a trailer. Still even the trailer's better than Episode II. Oh yeah, F'in VO for the nice transitions between game and real life. Make those models look better (in 3ds Max) and you'll have a really awesome video, dude...F'IIINNNNN VVVVVOOOOOO, DUDE!!!!!

That sounds like a fair point jirwin

but you did say

" I just feel that based on the originality and use of effects in this, that is what should be looked at "

this makes it sound like you want people to look at your effects and not a story ( very good fx work i must say )

But then you say

" I'm sick and tired of movies that are excuses for using effects with hardly any kind of a story that is interesting "

I'm trying to get my head round this, ( nothing personal )
So my film " the walk " original and flooded with fx's should be what you would look at.
But it has no story and is an excuse for use of fx.

Is this what you mean, " the few secound tests clips shouldn't be voted highly ? "

Please don't get me wrong, i think your trailer was worth a 5, but i only give 4 to trailers, this leaves me room to give 5 for the full film.

I think jirwin means that just because a video has good effects doesn't mean it deserves accolades upon accolades. It has to be coupled with "originality" (ie storyline) to be worthy of high votes.
As to voting 4 for trailers (saving that extra special star for a full movie), I think it's a good policy, one I would not have come up with. Too bad there isn't a designator mark for videos, one that would distinguish them between full trailers or movies, and then one could still vote 5 for a trailer that deserves it, and also vote high for a full-length movie (that also deserves it)...i don't know if that made sense...

I just feel that the standards for ALAMDV movies need to be raised...I think if a movie is going to be in the top ten, it must have BOTH originality and good use of special effects.

The note about both "test" movies...I think that the first one deserves to be number one...it was one of the earlier alamdv films, it was original when it was uploaded, and it was brilliant in its use of effects.

However, "The Second Test," in my opinion was simply awful in plot line...I'm thinking the only reason that It got such a high ranking was because Solthar used 3D skeletons in it (which looked very nice by the way). Yes, they looked cool, but I felt like I was watching a horrible mix of bad dialogue, bad acting, and for crying out loud...it just ENDED. There WAS no story- It was basically a bad skeleton killing movie with the label "sequel to the first test" on it.

Also, going back to the 4 stars for a trailer....I think that is a good idea but come to think of it, you could label almost 95% of all the movies on this site "trailers" just because none of them have hardly any story, they are just a bunch of effects and random things killing eachother. If you ask me, that isn't a movie-it might as well be a preview to something else.

Actually, I don't really see a plot in any of the "test" movies... smile

Still, I like the second test more...
Simply because both "test" films were just effecttests I made out of boredom, thats actually all relationship I have to these movies. They both have no story or anything alse. They're just about the effects. And the effects for the second one are much more complicated and were a real challenge, and the effects for the first one weren't... I have used all the tricks I used in "the test" in Turicon before... But I have hardly ever done anything that complicated as in "the second test". Thats why I like it more... smile

The only one of my movies here I have real relationship to is "ROSE". I spent months in planning and modelling and making this film. It has won several pro-festivals and I think it is one of the best films I have ever made and it really means something to me personal... But as you see, people here don't like it.
But then I do something out of pure boredom without even thinking one minute about what I'm doing (I just filmed what I felt could be funny) and it hits the top10...

Life is strange sometimes... smile

ohw... and I'll try not to take that "bad acting" thing personal... Did you know I went to an actors-academy here? Honestly... biggrin

You need to work on your compression, dude. 8 megs for a minute?

Whoever reads this, Please enlighten me. Tell me what compression each one of you uses and prefers...Be specific, include the video quality and everything for the compression that you use.

I think I did a pretty good job on mine just because I feel like I didnt lose hardly any video quality that I would if I used sorenson codec or something like quicktime movie for the web.

Sollthar, what did you use for the test?

I use sorensenvideo for the AlamDV website. But just because they don't like to have Realfiles... Otherwise I'm a fan of DIVX and Realmovies because they're by far the smallest...

very very good. I like the fact that it has a plot! Are there going to be other games featured? If not I could think of a few that would be easy to do. GTA III (Not Vice City). Spiderman would be cool considering its been one of the best selling games of the year. Best of luck and keep it up!!! biggrin biggrin biggrin
