We have at last finished implementing our plugin Awards! Every plugin submitted so far has now been reviewed and rewarded as appropriate. The new Awards will not only help when searching for quality plugins, but the authors of awarded effects will also receive Force points for their effort.

A loose guide to the Awards:

Gold - The very best quality plugin that acts as an example of how plugins should be made. Excellent idea, excellent features, superb image quality.

Silver - An excellent quality plugin with some innovative and new ideas and that shows a thoughtful creation and implementation.

Bronze - A solid, good quality plugin that stands out from the crowd.

CSB - In-house CSB-Digital created plugins.

The awards have been given out based on CSBs opinion of the plugin, but remember, you can still use the voting system to give plugins a personal rating.

The force rating will be based on a number of factors (not just the award). It will probably reflect the effort we believe has gone into making and submitting the plugin. But the actual amount has been left to the reviewers discretion.

What if two people made a plug-in? Mecha and I both created the explosions submitted under his name. Does the force go to both of us?

The force will go to the person who submitted the plugin unless I am expressly told that 2 people worked on it. In which case I will probably split up the forces 50/50 (or however you want it to be split).

All new plugins we recieve will now be tested, reviewed and considered for an award. This will probably mean there is more of a delay before plugins are actually put on the site, but should also mean we spot any problems earlier.

may i just add

quaility is more important than quantity
( that includes me )

We would all prefer better plugins than 10 crap ones, and I'm sure you won't get force points for the crap ones, so take your time.

( that still includes me )

Well said b4uask30male.

We're hoping that the new plugin Awards and Force rewards will encourage people to aspire to greater quality of plugin creation. Several of you already produce incredible stuff - you'll know who you are based upon the Awards you've already received!

But now people have a direct way of knowing if they're doing the right thing, and have something to aspire to.

I suspect the next generation of plugins will be the best yet!

I hope I'm not asking the obvious here (maybe I missed it - if so, give me a good whack on the head), but will the option of sorting plug-ins by award-type be available in the future? smile

The TS explosions, the water explosion, and the Twixxered explosion were created by both Mecha and I.

I think that is kind of what mobeius was asking about five posts up, and it is a feature you should see soon.

Yeah, but I've had that same icon since before anyone else could have icons. I thought it was about time for a change.

When i search by plug-in and click descending, it shows the bronze the awards first, then silver. If it's descending shouldn't it show Gold, then silver, then bronze, then ADV created? People probably want to see the gold ones before the silver ones, eh?

Pfft.

Plugins MAYBE should be worth force points, but sure as heck not the amount it's at now. Looks what it's doing to the community! We have a 13 year old who's been here for 2 months, posted very little advice and helpful information, and yet is a top 10 force guy. It's screwing around with the whole force system!!!!!!!! Wasn't it originally intended to make people post better stuff on the forums???

Ada: I'm still grateful for your plugins. . .

The force system is screwed up as of now. period.

PS: I don't care that i got a load of force for the explosion plugins.

And force for movies isn't a good idea either.

The force is a measure of how useful you are to the community. The plugins give the program greater value and benifit us all a lot.

I think the best movies should also get some force bonus, maybe not so much as plugins.

hmm, i think it's time for me to turn force off in the profile page... i think it creates too many problems, personally.

I think we need a good 'ol absolute system for this force. Malone can be the king and he gives force to people who he thinks deserves it. I think he is a much more accurate force-giver (neat word, eh!) than the alamdv community.

Oh, and ada: posts are not a measure of anything... maybe how much bandwith you take up of the alamdv site smile

Well a good plugin is worth a lot more to the community than a single good post but your gonna get force for them a lot less often.

You'll end up with a lot of small amounts of force for posts and a few big chunks for plugins so it'll even itself out.

It makes a lot of sense.

The system doesnt really have any concept of which award is better than another. It just knows a plugin has an award. Which made the sorting a little tricky. Ive just added a little hack to swap the ascending/descending around when sorting by award

I caught you there using Darkjedi slang! Check out Adas post for more info 'bout this.
