This is the teaser to a film we've been working on for the past two months.

If any of you are wondering what the deal is with the pictures of us holding money in our signatures, that's grant money we received to create this film.

The final film will be around nine minutes long, and the special effects will hopefully knock your socks off.

Enjoy.

Man, this frickin' ROCKS! It's going to be in the Cinema's top 3 for a long time, baby! I liked everything about it: from the music, to the pacing, to the ultra-smooth visuals: all aspects of the trailer scream 'class'!

The keying was particularly well done, and although the 3D visuals looked somewhat synthetic, they still went well with the overall techno feel of the movie.

Very, very cool stuff!

CRAP, RUBBISH.....

wink

i've watched it a few times, it was good, ( i though you showed the bullet a few too many times, i would have liked to have seen something else )

the blue screen ( green ) was well used from what i could see.

Not a lot wrong with this, i would give a vote of 5, but as you all know by now, i give trailers a max of 4, so i can then give the full film a 5.

so well done, a top 4 from me.

I learned a long time ago not to try to make 3d models look real. Only try to make them lookc cool. cool

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the teaser.

Hmmm, that was good, there was something missing though, just can't pin down what it was. Might have to watch it a couple of times more, too much on the bullet. However very slick looking film, It was the skiing gear, that got me didn't really fit the visual effect surroundings, Overall it looked good. I'm rather tired that explains the not very in depth review. Might do a better one later.

The 3D looked real good, something with the camera movement with the bullet looks kinda wierd.. i think u can do that better!
But it was good, real good! As normal your movies deserve a 5. and im always kind with the voting, so here u go! biggrin 5+

What is it with you guys and computer game related movies? Anyway, I thought it was alright. looked a bit too 3-D rendered and unreal though. I'm not sure if that was the look you were going for. The costumes reminded me of Shogun assasin, that other film you did. I gave you a 3 as it's a trailer. I'll reserve my final judgement on the finished product.

Sidey sez:

3D rarely looks real. So I don't try to make it real. I try to make it look cool.

As for the costumes, I thought they were fine. What's wrong with 'em?

We spent the money on the greenscreen and guns, yo.

AND THIS DOESN"T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH VIDEOGAMES!

I sure did a good editing job for that teaser! +1 for posting it sidey!!!!

What's wrong with the bullet? I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Is the bullet itself wrong, or the scene? I've shot real guns and seen real bullets, and it sure as heck looks like a real bullet. . . . crazy

Okay I've slept now, so I'll be able to do a better review. What's wrong with the bullet? you ask, well there was alot of quite long shots of it, got kind of boring seeing a CGI bullet again and again.

I like the costumes kind of. Guy in nice suit, blokes in weird mask things, however like I said, they did look abit like they were on a skiing holiday. If you'd have painted all the masks and stuff black and got black hats and such, it'd look good, contrasted against the guy in white. Yin and Yang style (That's what I did in my latest film, the main character wears white all the time, an expensive silver suit, white shirts and such, the other guy wears all black, long black leather jacket, black leather gloves, and all.) I find it quite hard to like a film in an almost entire CG environment, I prefer real locations, then again I'm not a fan of futuristic locations at all really.

Not really my thing but does look very slick, very slick indeed. Even if the films real sh*t. If it looks slick, it'll get a fan base and people'll go back to it again and again. Not saying it will look like that, just saying that you can't loose. biggrin

Could be good. I particularly liked the Spiderman-esque shots of the bullet, although I felt like it should have had some nice text to go along with each instance of it (something along the lines of "Believe...In...GOD" -the Deus) in Deus Ex Machina). Nice looking action, nice 3d (not my style, but good nonetheless). Looking forward to the final product.

nice cinematography
interesting sequence
bad sound effects

It is really a shame the so many people use off internet sound effect you can make one that are so much better with a little more effort

hehe.. I knew it... I said you would do a Deus Ex movie and I was right... hehe... I like that... smile

It's a really fun Trailer that makes me wanna see more. Couldn't see much of a story though... That was the only negative thing... looked a little like a pointless actionfilm... But what the... I like pointless actionfilms... Especially with so nice and well done effects... smile

hey I though that was a really cool teaser. I realy loved the effects and I thought the sound effects were effective but could possibly be better. I have a few questions.
1. how did you make the soldier fly away from the explosion in the beginning
2.was the guy falling off the bulding 3d or an alam plugin type thing
3.where did you get such a big green/blue screen
4. do you have a website with tutorials on it... if you don't you should because you are really good.

great movie man I really enjopyed it and i hope that your finished product knocks the test off the top ten... the test is good but it is old and I would like to see some new talent make its way to the top

The answers to your questions are:

1: Had me jump in front of the greenscreen. It was just a plain jump, up and down, with my arms flailing a little. Then, after adding the background and explosion, we moved the footage of the jump back, as if thrown by the blast. The part at the end where the guy goes flying out the door was done with old-fashioned ropes.

2:the guy falling was footage of the actor slowly spinning in front of the greenscreen, then added into a 3d animation by putting the footage as an animated textre on a plane.

3: We got a grant from the local cable access station. You guys should check with yours, as most of them give away money to mostly anyone who wants to use it for making some sort of media production.

4: We're working on getting one, likely with Scope-Entertainement. Thanks for the compliment. smile

I hope this takes the number one spot too. cool

Great job guys. I'm really happy that you guys are continuing to pump out the classics. The cyborgs look great! (I like the paintball masks but I doubt anyone else noticed) I just had a few questions.

What do you guys use for lighting and what would you recomend for someone on a tight budget. (I'm 14 I have limited funds)

What sort of material did you use for keying because it really turned out awesome.

Thanks for the feedback. Kyeju

Want to know where to get the lighting that we used? Go to your school auditorium. That's where we set up our screen. We worked with the school to get this project as one of our classes, and worked it out with all the important people.

As for keying, we bought a bright green felt. The trick to having it look so nice is the program, Final Cut Pro 3. We've learned it's keying and effect techniques in and out.

You know, if you don't have a budget, go talk to your local cable access station. They have some great resources, like cameras, microphones, lights, and possibly a bluescreen for you to use. We got our money for the project through a grant from our cable access station.

Final Cut pro man - we used that for all the keying in this thing and believe me - FCP keys way better than AE (we found that out the long, painful, and very, very hard way!)!!!!

We said: "Could we have some money so we can make a movie?"

No, actually, we found out they had a grant program, and asked how to apply. Call them, or go to the offices, and ask if they give out grants or money to people (or students) interested in creating a film.

It depends on the type of people running the station. Some care, others don't. Also, they might have a nice DV camera for you to use.

You see, cable access is funded by tax money, so it's resources are open to everyone.

As for the camera, you'd have to ask mecha.

Learner: when you exported as a tiff sequence, did you make sure to include aloha channels in it? If you open it in, say, After Effects, does it say it has an alpha channel?

if it does, you still won't gert the total cut-out look you're going for, if you apply it to a texture. What you need to do, after selecting it as a diffuse map, is to go to opacity, and pick the same TIFF sequence. after you've done so, RGB intensity should be checked (in the lower, left hand corner of the opacity panle). check alpha intensity, or whatever is below RGB intensity. This'll make everything transparent, except for you.

as for the money, we'll find out in around a month.

Hey All

As for keying AE does any jobs ive tried really good
Im using AE 5.0 production bundle and using Ultimatte plug-in to key.

Im not too familiar wit FCP, but in my opinion AE works great
What would make FCP better? (for keying)

It has reallly good color correcting, and that lets you make your blue or green screen a perfect blue/green, and that makes keying mo' betta, and REALLY EASY!

its great effect i mean hell i would hire you on the spot to do the effects for a movie for me but one thing. I've noticed a tred in your movies. Like all others you make the effects are great and everyone loves a fight scene but i have to wonder will you ever make a movie with plot to it, a good plot. commbine that with you effects and wow good movie but thus far well it lacks any good reason to walch it again and again but only to walch a fight scene and that bores me major

Oh well keep up the great effects

this is just a teaser, so we're not showing any plot.

There is a plot in this one, but it's subtle, and basic. You can't create something too complex when there is no dialogue.

Which there is none of, by the way.

what i'm saying is this full movie going to have a plot and willl the acting and plot be any good i know its a teaser film i see that but i'm wondering if a full one ever comes out will it be good. Oh yeah and you didn't do half the shit i had to do to get that grant from cable access. You just showed up one day and I went in 3 or 4 more times and talked to the manager get your facts staight or don't say anything

What? Puncuation helps, dude. wink

The full movie has a plot, but it's nothing too extreme. In the words of www.realultimatepower.net, a ninja-man's wife is kidnapped, so he flips out and kills everebody, most of which are cyborgs.

The actual plot isn't quite that foolish, but it's very close to something along those lines. This movie is more of a final show of all our special effects skillz, so expect the plot to take more of a backseat. You'll have to read into the movie to see it though, because it IS there.

Oh, and we didn't just walk right in. We got information on the grant, and talked with the people there numerous times, to make sure we would get it. It's likely we could of still gotten it with half the effort, since they already knew of some of our stuff.

It wasn't difficult, and they were very friendly, but it just took some time, like most good things.

Dude get off of mecha and sidey's nuts. What is wrong with you, who cares how they got the money, they got it, right?? One reason they got it is prolly cuz they make grade A projects, and they can only get better from there. Can't you tell that they are excited about and have worked really hard on this. So if you have something negative to say keep it to yourself. Personally I cant wait to see it. I think it is gonna be the sheezy. Im out, old punk @$$ haters unsure....meh whatever.

nice cg environments. . .

a movie without dialogue? film seems to be taking a step backwards. . .
just kidding, I'm very interested in seeing the final product, I'm curious what techniques you're using to protray plot themes without the use of dialogue.

question : is the lack of dialogue a choice, or technical mishap, or what? if choice, what motivated you to leave conversation out of the film?

nice trailer, overall. keep up the good work, son

We didn't go with dialouge because with music and sound effects blaring the whole time, your head might explode.

That and the microphones we own just don't compare with all the good equipment we're using.
