Hey,

I know that there are a bunch of people on here that use fake weapons in their movies...What I want to know is where everyone gets them from

Personally, I get mine from www.bestpricebusters.com
some of the guns they have on their are incredible for only $20 or so.

I wasn't sure if anyone else knew of another place to get gun props or other sweet weapons.

First, that is NOT FAIR!! evil Second, that really must be great for you! Third, I had no idea you were Indian! eek (That's what makes this forum great, no ethnic boundarys to hinder us from knowing and helping each other. biggrin ) I'm from the USA.

Would it be posible to buy some off of you...? wink If they were realistic looking, I'd be willing to pay, just name your price! biggrin (Nothing too high though... crazy )

If you can't send me the guns in the mail, why do you care about what I'm looking for? Anyway, the guns I need are machine guns from the Matrix: Mp5s, M16s, Desert Eagles, etc. I'm making a parody of the film, and I need to have realistic props! biggrin

I use a pair of blank firing Berretta 94Fs. They are VERY COOL.

But they were VERY EXPENSIVE! How does £110 (UKP) each sound? 8mm blanks are only £15 for fifty though so keeping them bangin' isn't so bad.

The reason I bought them is I was doing a low budget 10 min film that featured a VERY slow motion gun fight. I couldn't use BB guns 'cos the pretend recoil actors do is rubbish at slow speeds.

The blank firers are great at this though - the slide kicks back and a shiney casing spins from the side, not to mention very realistic recoil. Its a better shake/jerk than an actor can do.

£220 for the pair, though. That didn't half dent the budget! biggrin

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

BEST PRICE BUSTERS IN THE HIZZOUSE!!! I buy almost ALL MY PROPS from em!!! Plus they're fun to play with during BB gun wars.

And it's PERFECTLY legal to send those FAKE guns through mail. . . . .

You know what else? Luckily we didn't get in too much of a mess by filming DXM at our school w/ the props. . . but a janitor took a look at summa our stuff and . . . look at the email we got from our advisor . . it looks really . . . akward . .

"He is obligated to report it since there is a zero tolerance policy for any weapons in school. Luckily he came to me first. I have the bag in my office. I know that you weren't going to actually shoot the gun in school, but that is irrelevant."

Ouch . . . sad

OH! and they got some sweet bullpup's going for $50 on some other airsoft sites . . . . they even have functional scopes

i got a SPAS 12 / stock for $30 last week . . . just for fun! and it shoots a ton o' BB's at a time!!!!!! suckaz . . .

Now just clear airsoft guns out of your head . . and think about this if you were to of just read it out of the blue . . . .

"Mr. W. doesn't know about it and I would just as soon he doesn't find
out, so you don't need to worry about anything. I think the custodian and
I are the only ones who have seen the guns. I'll keep the bag in my
office, so if you can stop by sometime tomorrow to pick it up that would be great. Your other stuff [Rocket launchers, grenades, TNT] is still in the auditorium."

Tsk tsk for me. . . . .

I really don't think this is the kind of stuff I want to 'flaunt'. . . .

Yes, I must admit Best Price busters is the sweetest thing since KnightRider....

have any of you seen the robocop gun that came out...with the detachable silencer... How SAAAWEEEEETT is that!!!

I want it i want it i want it!!!

Also...whoever said above that actors recoil for gunshots suck is totally right....can anyone give me tips on how to make it more realistic without getting guns that shoot blanks?

Like...somebody give as detailed an explanation as possible on how a gun is supposed to recoil...IM talking about PISTOLS here...not submachine guns. THANKS!! biggrin

I went to Venice this summer and was able to buy 3 d-eagles for only 20 Euros. I thought that was a pretty good deal. wink Oh and about that recoil thing, just watch lots of movies with gun scenes and practice in the mirror. Then you can teach your actors. It always works for me. smile

Raider once said (and he should know - he shoots guns fr a living) that you should hold the gun in front of you and then get someone to hit the front of the barrel. The gun kinda tips up. That is what real recoil looks like.

The prob is that tipping motion is impossible to do fast enough. It looks kinda limp. My advice would be to do more of a jolt than a tip.

Take it from the shoulder and elbow, not the hand. And kinda spasm/jolt/shake! That can be done faster than tipping the gun and looks much more like recoil. Its bloody hard to get right, though.

I have found a place that sells realistic handguns (with recoil) for only $15! They look good on film, and are very sturdy. All you have to do with them is paint them black, and cut off the orange tip on the front. twisted You can get them at the Meijer store. I don't know if Meijer is outside the USA, but if it is, I hope this helps. biggrin

That reminds me, heard of a story which is true that a guy in a firing range didn't place the ear protectors on while the guy in the next booth fired a cougar magnum. He was deafened for a couple of days.

Ouch! It may be the most powerful handgun in the world, but if it misses you can still be deafened by it. eek

www.bbguns.co.uk I've got all of mine from there. They sell budget guns for dirt cheap. My noitorious twin beretta's (the ultimate in spicy-handed gunplay) are a bit knackered up now. I saw some electric BB guns with automatic cocking, so the topslide moves when it fires, with a free silencer. I want some new beretta's and I'd love some twin Desert Eagles .44 magnum silver ones. I've asked this mate of mine to get some Heckler and Koch MP5 A5's for my film. If he can get hold of 'em then I'll be able to introduce a police swat team into my film.
The ultimate however must be the blank firers. Gotta get one of them. Ok 2 of them. Ok more like 13. But either way I'm gettin' me one.

ok - ok - I've mentioned before I'd put up some video of actual real live killin bullets being fired from military weapons so I will tonight if I have to stay up all night. I will post the site when it is complete here on this thread. I have so far - m9pistol / m249 SAW / m16rifle, GAU. I made this for the class we do.

Sidey and I play airsoft with friends . . . .

I shot a friend in the face twice even after i had got him! HAH! He said it hurt a lot. On the inside.

Oh . . .and the only way the get 'good recoil' is by shooting a real gun. I be less than 4/5 of the people here have any experience with weapons at all . . . . . .

But back to what spotless said . . . that's pretty much right . . yeah[/i]

I'm deeply involved in airsoft, wich is a very good thing to be if you want to make some gun intensive movies. smile
If I don't own something I need, chanses are that some of my team mates or friends from another team have what I'm looking for.
Very practical. smile

Bought Alam DV yesterday so you can begin to prepare yourself for some crappy gun toting short films being uploaded soon...

Nice one, raider! Thanks. +1 and well-earned.

(No one gives force for useful/helpful stuff anymore, huh? Shame. Come on guys. He put THREE links of actual guns firing; a topic this string is all about! Where's the force?! sad )

BTW: Bloody hell, raider! Those targets are far away! Couldn't you guys have walked a bit closer? wink
