This is a short appetizer I made for the creators of "Zak McKracken 2", a Fangame to the original Zak maybe some "oldskool gamers" still remember... smile

3D Animations, Realfootage, Compositing and the music you hear was done by me. Additional credits go to Dotperinch (http://www.dotperinch.de) for the mars surface and the crystal model.

Hope you enjoy it!

I agree with Andy here. The 3D work was brilliant but overall it just seemed to be lacking something. Nice music, by the way! biggrin

And I, agree with the two below. I liked it, but it needed something. Gave it a four, nice job!

The clip finally had to be made within 1 day... So that was the best my friend Dot and I could get out of it...

Kudos on the hard work, but I guess it all seemed pretty lackluster to me. You seem to like Vue d'Esprit and Terragen, which is cool, but I struggled just to finish watching it. Maybe it needs more action?

I think criticism of "solltars" work is always a bit harsh (apart from b4 and myself)because of the standards he sets himself.....well as a movie "short " it was a real piece of art.........5stars.

Thanks davlin! smile

I agree that the clip is missing something... I feel that myself. But a 2 stars? Is it really that bad?... confused

I did the music. I composed it on my Synthesizer accausing to the original theme from the Zak McKracken Game.

First I'd like to compliment you on your wonderful cg work, it looked good.

Second, I think it's missing action. Every video game preview has good action in it (assuming it's an action video game anyway). You never showed Zak in action, lets see what he can do!

I have never played the original game, so I don't know what's supposed to be going on, and don't fully understand the subject matter, I'm critiquing from an uninformed point of view. I'm merely suggesting what I think would help fill it out more. . .

all in all I thought it was neat

Filming, acting, cg's... Solthar definetly have many skills !!!

This one is not my favourite you've made but was cool anyway.

Another use of Cinema 4D ? (the shaders for the desert are great !). The only weakness from my point of view is the music. i didn't like nore the theme nore the sound an i found it far less interesting than your other productions.

Compositing is fine (as usual) and the slow rythm like in an animatic prologue works great.

Thanks for the kind comments! By the way, this video is a pretty old one anyway... smile

Hmm... to the action... zak McKracken is an Adventure game... You don't really have a lot of action to show, as the game is pretty much actionless...

Thank you Encheval! Well... As I have written this music is composed by myself, so it's clear it isn't as good as the others... I cannot match an Alan Silvestri or a Danny Elfman... yet... smile
