A short film made about 18 months ago in two nights. Possibly the first narrative-based movie in the cinema (possibly not, don't yell at me if that's the case). After a precarious arms theft, in which his previous partner Easy died, ShortLoan turns up at the rendez-vous with the wealthy businessman that comissioned his services. Will ShortLoan's hot-headed new partner jeapordise the deal or will the businessman's stupid henchman get there first? *CAUTION* Contains filthy language...

good good!

At the beginning the lightning is sometime not enough and then full light crazy
And your cam seem to make some noose at some scene( but I guess it's normal for a no bugdet movie)

I really enjoy it!

the story was good
the use of the angles was perfect!

5 stars

Hey guys,

I liked what you tried to do here. I thought the story was cool, and it was nice to see an Alam movie with a plot smile

I was kind of disappointed by the acting and some of the effects were not as clean as they could have been. All in all, though, a good effort. 4 stars.

Some good stuff there, the intro was cool.

And a neat way to incorperate lightsabers into a modern setting =)

Some of the shots could've used more lighting. Maybe you were going for that kind of effect with your actors though...?

Hey, it's Bud Chipowski! lol I liked this movie a lot: it features an interesting - albeit predictable - plot with loads of action - a sure-win combination in my book. Certain parts seemed rather long-winded, however, and the sound could've been better, but overall a very impressive piece smile

Just as a matter of interest, how could the sound be improved? I haven't seen this compressed version... is the sound poor quality? When we shot the film, some fool left his camera in the wrong sound mode and when it came to be edited the sound had to be sourced in again from another camera. A long long time was spent capturing sound from an analogue source and jiggling it all about... Apart from a bit of hum, the original completed soundtrack was alright (I think).

It might very well have been the compression smile The sound seemed very ambient to me, so much so that I had to strain my ears to hear certain bits. I'm referring specifically to the dialogue, btw; the sound effects were alright biggrin

Jim, the voices were really quiet on the original files you sent me, the compressed one is little different.

There are places where you can hardly tell what they are saying which is a shame because there are some damn funny lines. Shame we didn't have a mike or anything setup..

The voices on the ORIGINAL (ie. DV quality one I have on tape) are fine. The ones I sent you seemed okay but that might be because my Mac's wired into the stereo and I can turn it roight oop...

I thought that the gun standoffs were hilarious. The incorperation of a lightsaber in a non star-wars style film is excellent. In addition, the storyline actually made sense, although I think the party kid should have lived and that a bottle of wine (no matter how good) is not sufficiant payment for that kind of technology. Still overall, a great film. I gave it 5 stars for creativity, effects and for story.

I thought that was excellent. The writing, the performances, the setting, all top notch. The action choreography could have used some work though, don't take that as an insult. I think that about most Hollywood action scenes. There was the occasional continuity error and alot of it wasn't well framed. These are minor concerns. The cam work was good, nice tracking shot at the start, loved the bit where it follows "fudd" when he runs to "mr. nitro" and points the gun to his head. the lighting although inconsistent was fantastic, the way they had half their face in shadow. I thought the effects were good, the muzzle flashes where bright in the dark surroundings, that looks realistic. I really don't like it when there's a bright muzzle flash in light surroundings it looks... well... not very good. Top marks for that. The bullet hits were good. The editing was good too, quick cutting. I didn't like the way that throughout all the heavy fire only one cardboard box actually fell, it'd have been nice if they could have flown about and been ripped up by the bullets rather than just stay still despite the fact that they'd been hit by several 9mm bullets. Although you couldn't really notice that. My second favourite, (next to Adrenaline) yours was better made than adrenaline, however I just loved those fight scenes in their's.

well done, well done. . .
it reminded me a lot of the movie Snatch.

I actually thought the lightsaber scene was totally out of place. I mean, it was well choreographed, and the saber effects were awesome, but it just didn't seem right seeing lightsabers in such a setting.

I loved the lighting. . . the faces in half shadows were awesome. The sound could have been better, but that's already been mentioned in the posts.

no offense, but I thought Mr. Nitro was a bit played up, like Steven Seagal in "The Glimmerman". I would have liked to see him bust out his demolitions expertise. . .

I enjoyed it immensely fellas, keep it up

Another notch in the bedpost for TGO and the gang. Well done fella's. I laughed out loud at several points lol

5 stars all the way from me. Timing, writing, and cam shots were great.

The lightsword fight did not seem out of place to me, of course I have seen some of SL&E #1. The establishment of lightswords in a more real situation was out of the way. BTW the dual seemed to last a long time. It started at night and lasted until daylight twisted

cool

I noticed sound bridges which didn't flow in that fact noise was picked up and it took me awy from the action and reminded me that a handycam was being used. It was such a shame because up until that point I was in there watching the action. If you make a sequel, which I think you should. Why not purchase a gun-mic and get rid of the whirrr of the tape that I could hear?

The angles were excellent and it was something that although long managed to make me watch it til the end, which is hard for an online video download to do (unless its erm... wink )

Very well done. Yet I am sure you can make it better. For what it is. 4.7/5 which is 5 rounded up. Bare in mind what I have said pwease smile
