I've just uploaded some stills and animations of a Stargate Serpent Warrior and some stills of a terrorist.

Firstly, up front and before I am criticised, I know that 3D plugins of people are no substitute for the real thing. If you don't like them don't download and use them.

Secondly, if you do decide to try them I am interested in knowing what you think of these as samples. The reason being is that I have managed to find a process that allows me to extract a model from Half Life or Quake and then import it into 3DS Max and render them for use with AlamDV as a plug in.

Because the ones I have done so far don't have very much skin exposed, I don't think they look too bad, but I think models that have more exposed skin may not look as good - the question is do I persist and get some more done or is it just wasting time.

Thanks - friendly comment welcome.

Thanks guys ... if they work out then I can out some more together. I noticed when `the guys put them up and added their own comments they mentioned about the images being a little blocky - I realise this as the mdl models have low polygon counts. This is why at the moment I have not gone near models with a lot of skin exposed as I don't think they come up as well. I am going to keep playing to see if I might be able to smoothen the characters once they have been converted from mdl.

At the moment I am sticking to characters that I can get away with the blocky appearance. The serpent guard is a classic for that. I also have an animated Darth Vader coming - again the mdl version is perfect for that.

BUT as I mentioned in my original descriptions - they are not intended to replace human actors - just to be used in background, possible blurred slightly, shots where you don't really see the character clearly.

Any other feedback would be great, or if anyone actually uses anything in a movie, please let me know as I'd love to see the end result.

PS B4 ... I still cannot get a good looking Death Glider plugin made. At the moment just the grey coloured one (I think) already uploaded. lol
