Snakes or beatles

Ok, this is gonna be pretty tricky: I need snake or beatles crawling from the ground out wards, such as the mummy movie. and the need to be alot so you can barely see the ground.

i've got a mouth to do and another boulder, then i'll give it a go.
what might be best is say 3 or different plugins ) 1 beatle per plugin
then you would add them all together ( as many as you need. )
not sure about them coming out of the ground, as i wouldn't know the angle of your camera to make it look right.
so what might be an idea is to use a mask then they could crawl from behind it. ?

Yeah I think the best way for the beatle is to have a single beatle in a plugin or maybe a plugin with 2 or 3, then you add as many as you want. I'll see if I can find any beatle meshes for 3DS Max and a snake - no promises.

It can be done,
i think the bug that i've uploaded is fairly good, i made it close up so when you made it smaller it still had good detail.
if you add 100 ( i know it's a little bit of work ) and stagger the start times, then you would have an army of bugs.
then if you was happy with them walking forwards, post again asking for them walking in different directions,
it would be time consuming for you to put them all down, but you would have so much more control over them, eg: you could made them walk around a rock on the floor.
if i was to make 100's all running different ways they would cover the rock ( which would look odd as the rock would be raised )
anyway it's upto you

Sorry i might not have made it clear ( they call me the thinking mans plugin maker )
what i was trying to say is.
if you liked the one i done going forwards, i would do 7 more going in different directions.
it means you would have to put them down one by one, and stagger the starting frames.
but the good news is moebuis has taken my bug plugin and has made what your after ( without doing it one by one )
he's uploaded, should be interesting to see how it's came out. ?

Please don't expect too much, guys! Although I used B4's cool bug plugin, it is very hard to make out each particle as a beetle
Btw, b4, if you make new plugins of the bug facing different directions, I could probably come up with more convincing results. How about it?

the beatle was bloody hard, i had to make his texture, it was SILVER, that was no good.
and i couldn't keep my texture with tiff, so i had to take each frame into photoshop
When i get some free time i will do some more.

I think your single plugins are going be a whole lot more useful, b4
Because I don't know how to model collison dynamics, my beetles don't crawl on a flat plane and don't bounce off each other as they would in real life.
