CSB WARNING: Some viewers may find the content of this movie disturbing.

Hi
this is my first movie using alamdv. i made a few mistakes with the compression and because of that i lost a little quality doing effects, but it still looks very good.
i would like to recieve opinion, critics...whatever.

some people have problem downloading the file..if you cant watch the movie in the explorer as a quicktime file...try downloading the file to your desktop.

i hope you enjoy it!!!
thanks

One reason people may have trouble viewing the movie as a Quicktime fille is that it is an .avi file, other than that you did a great job for a first timer.

All that gunfire at close range and still not hit anything. You must be fans of the GI-Joe cartoon. The shot with the gun and the foot was cool. Very clever. Good effort for a first film.

meh
I wasn't particularly impressed with anything in this, least of all the foot-to-hand move. . . anyone can drop a gun, kick it, and play it in reverse. . . . . .

completely lacking story, but that's forgivable, as you said it was your first.
how in the name of god do you sight in on someone, then pull to the side and shoot the tree?!?! the only thing I could think of was that he just wanted to warn them, and not kill them, but then he went and shot them anyway, so that was out, and I couldn't think of anything!
also, how does one fire a full auto gun at that range, and totally miss EVERYONE? that didn't make any sense. another thing about the m4, was that your empty shells totally disappeared into the grass. . . magic bullet casings, I guess. . . what you should have done was make the quad on the effect bigger, and slightly stretched horizontally. bigger, because the casings looked way too small, and stretched horizontally because that would maker them arch up and fly off the right side of the screen

like the good Mr. Suzor has commented on, if you want a semi prolonged gunfight, you need more space, as they would have all been dead in a couple of seconds at that range

you fellas should have the chlorine content in your pool checked! it completely dissolved the guy's t-shirt when he jumped in, and even being in close proximity to it dissolved the t-shirts off of the 2 little kids. . . that could be a bit hazardous to your health. . .

like a few other people on here have said, your muzzle flashes were all too small, you might want to make them a bit larger for your next one. . . also, work on your camera work, it was a little too shaky

sorry if this sounds a little harsh, but I feel that if everyone just says "Hey, lad! swell job! good first try!" then you'll never be able to correct mistakes to better yourself and grow as a filmmaker

To be honiest I thoght it was a bit sick.
i dont thik you shud hav kids of that age geting shot at in films. it wud prehaps be better if u had deskised them, like give them a costume or somthing, but as it is it just looks like some guys is shooting kids. to be fare it's your first film and i ges you just wanted to have somthing to put efects over, but i would realy change your subject matter for your future work as shooting kids is still fuked up.

Ice_Man's point is well made and Turbanators comments pretty much covered some other points as well (I did find the part about the older kid looking threw the gunsite at the other kids to be a bit disturbing). Then again... I've been looking threw the Cinema, as well as other sites on the net, and I can't count how many times I've seen films with barely teenaged hitmen with impossable arsenals agains't drug lords, or some other type of foe, who look like they just got out of Head Start having gun battles for no reason what so ever. So I will give them a little slack......BUT...just a little.

Do not pay any attention to Ice Man, you did a good job. So what if anybody can do the effects you did that is not a reason to be critical. We are here to make our little movies, gain a little experience, and share with others, not impress anyone. Yes you were a bit harsh and being a constructive critic means delivering your critique in a manner that will be accepted, and being harsh is the WRONG way.

excuse me?!?! do I go around telling people not to listen to you, just because I don't like the method with which you say it?!?! That was out of line!

yeah, we're here to make movies, and gain experience, but how do you expect him to gain that experience if all we do is tell him great job? HE LEARNS NOTHING THAT WAY! and we're doing him a disservice by doing so.
I wasn't hard because anyone can do the gun to hand thing, I only said that because a lot of people thought that it was wicked cool, as if they thought he really did it. to me it was obvious how they did it
I was hard because that's the best way this kid is going to learn. all you all out here seem to think that just saying "good job" is constructive criticism. YOU ARE WRONG! help this person out for christ's sake! actually tell him what needs to be fixed! help him learn from his mistakes, if you're not telling him what they are, then how's he know what to change to better himself? None of you people were doing it, so I had to!

there is nothing wrong with being harsh, as long as it's not intended in a malicious manner, which it wasn't in this case, I was being honest because you didn't seem to have the balls to, bjpage!

I am sorry if you took my post the wrong way but from your reply I can see you did not read it very well. I agree with you, tell people what they might improve on, but do it in a manner that will be acceptable. From your statement:
"I wasn't hard because anyone can do the gun to hand thing, I only said that because a lot of people thought that it was wicked cool, as if they thought he really did it"
it shows that you motive was not helping him, but to try and make other people not like what he did.
No, being hard is not the best way for someone to learn, and yes they is something wrong with being harsh.
As far as you were being honest and I wasn't, well I apologize for making you feel this way, I am sure you are a very honest person.

my motive was to correct an error in judgement on the part of some people. that he actually managed to make some of you think that he really did it, shows a great deal success on his part.
but, how would you feel if you thought that there really were 100 hugo weavings in the next matrix movie, and nobody corrected you? I know I'd feel pretty foolish.

it seems that you and I will have a difference of opinion on this. in the future, I'll try to not step on your toes, if you do the same for me.

apologies accepted, and I apologize for sounding like I was striking out at you. perhaps I didn't totally understand what you were trying to say, and came on a little strong

you know what they say, honesty is the best policy! smile

I thought it was OK.

Hey iceman why are you annoying everyone? J/K lol

It seems a trend for teeny muzzle flash is starting... mad
I agree with the points Monsieur Frozen Watter has made, continuity errors are noticable in this, and there were more shells than John Woo!

The explosion is a bit poor, but it was quite funny...

Keep at it... smile

PS Removed... could be the content?

hey, for a second there, you were starting to sound like supersmasher razz only you didn't say anus lol

just kiddin' man. . . but seriously, the content isn't that far removed from anything else on here. . . .kids making movies about shooting themselves, some with plot, some without. . . kind of surprising that they chose this one to make an example of to the others. . .

it was probebly removed becase of its sick content. i thik films like that are crossing the line, and the line is hard to cross so you have allot of safe content to work with.
i no i might sound like ime wining and shit, but it had to be sead.

wwuuaaoooo
that really are critics!
My english is not perfect. i hope you all understand.

first, thanks to all of you for taking the time to watch the movie and write something about it.

I think almost all the movies in the cinema does not have a real story or something like it, they are like a lot of scenes, but not a complete story. just a good and a bad guys fighting...

About the "little kids". All the kids play with guns that fire plastic bullet, or stuff like that. it's not that i corrupt them or make them suffer or something like that. "We are normal people".

They are my cousins, and we just wanted to film something funny using the alamdv effects, we did not plan something, or write something, it was totally improvised and i thought it was funny.

Im thankful with the constructive critics, and i agree that they help people in their next proyects. but i think this critic : " anyone can drop a gun, kick it, and play it in reverse. . . . . . " is not a constructive one.
I agree that this effect is very easy to do...but the DIFFICULTY of the effects is not what makes them good!...a simple effect that take a minute could be ten times better than one that takes a month. I thought this effect was good for this part, i did not care in the difficulty of it.

My intention was to make an action scene, i did not think about the content. i uploaded the movie "Plomo" to the alamdv cinema to show my work as you all do, and to hear critics about effects, action, etc..because this is what i wanted to show, not the content... Everybody has diferent opinion about content...and you guys took this the wrong way, and you are the ones that detour and create the content.

I disagree with removing this movie, i dont think is the right decision and if this is what alamdv stuff have decided i think they should check contens of others movies...not all of the movies in the alamdv cinema are for all ages.

thanks to all
I am glad that this was not my first super production in hollywood, otherwise i would have been sued for millions of dollars.
biggrin
bye
thanks

I liked it, but i the opening unnerved me seeing someone snipin' at some kids. Poor taste? Probably not. I liked the gun from the foot trick, so what how many people have done it, it looked cool. That's what he wanted, not something totally new to wow all of us. I'll be posting a movie soon, and have incorporated the advice (some critism) into it. I think it will make the next one better. I appriciate the comments and no, my feelings were not hurt at all biggrin

As some people had expressed concern over the content of this movie, we felt we needed to put a warning on it.

Speaking personally, I am entirely against censorship, so whenever possible we will use a written warning like this rather than permanently removing a movie.

A very wise solution Tarn. I didn't think it need to be yanked off the Cinema completely. Warnings sound like a good way to do it.

the movie was well done. i thought that the explosion from the grenade could have been a bit bigger and a bit more realistic-looking. it was funny how a sniper rifle doubled as a machine gun, and that the sniper must have fired at least 100 bullets and only 4 bullets hit his targets. i liked the movie though, good use of most of the plugins and i loved the freehand camera during the shootout by the trees, it gave it a more realistic feel to it. and everyone who said that you are copying sollthar, you must remember that sollthat is copying agent ethan hunt from mission: impossible 2. so unless tom cruise calls you up for copying him, everything is alright. biggrin

Ah, finally I could see the movie...

I liked the reverse shot with the gun. I thought the way you filmed it looked pretty cool... So did I like the shot were that guy jumps into the water firing.

There are points I think could be improved, but it has all been said yet (the distance, the muzzleflashes). What I thought was funny was the sudden change of time...
Movie starts daytime and ends in the night... pretty long shootout smile

This film irritates me. It didn't work on my computer all I could hear was the theme tune to "Face/Off" and a rate load of gunshots so it sounded proper good. I was listening to it, imagining how good it must be but I couldn't see anything, damn you inventor of sh*tty computers damn you.
