New 3D Animations

I've discovered a method for being able to get some not-too-bad-looking animations from Quake and Half Life models. Bit tricky to extract, but doable none-the-less. Not so good looking for the more realistic type models (eg where a lot of skin is showing) but really good for things like robots and mummies etc.
I have uploaded a series of mummy animations and am in the process of working on the Battledroid from Star Wars, which has been requested many times. I think I have also found a Droideka that rolls up.
Let me know what you think when you have used them. I made mini movie using the mummies which I may upload.

The method involves using 3DS Max 4 or above. Not sure if it works for any other 3D software. It requires using a converter plugin which allows the model to be imported, the weapon is then imported, then the skins are imported. All are matched up and you go from there. There's a different method for Half Life which involves first breaking the Half Life model into its individual animations first. I'll try to get some time to write a proper tutorial.

I see five of the files are uploaded as plugins but the other loopable animation plugins are still pending. Not sure if that means the guys don't want to make them available - hope they do as they finish off the whole collection. KermZ

is that legal?
1) to do it (probably fine)
2) but for csb to have a program with copprighted characters as plugins?

Looks like the remaining animations have nto been released. I will try to find my own server space to house these on for anyone who might want them as they form the complete set.
As for copyrighted characters - I would agree if we were producing a competitive game that gave Quake a run for its money. Where possible I always list the originator of a mesh in the additional information.
I guess I don;t have to make these plugins but I thought they might help to add a bit of fun to some movies. KermZ
