ALAMDV - its all in the name, or is it?

Does ALAMDV suck as a name??
We've been told by some advertising type people that this sucks and nobody will ever remember it - what do you all think? If we are going to change it then we better do it now....

Personally, I have no problem remembering it. It's definitely unique, you don't mix it up with anything else. (I may be looking too hard, but I can't figure out what ALAMDV means...)

Well the DV is Digital Video. we were considering splitting it up: ALAM DV.
ALAM used to be known my its full name, but we shortenned it due to the risk of copywrite or lawsuits! - it stands for Amateur Light And Magic - a parody (but a respect one) of Industrial Light and Magic - ILM - the people that do the SFX in all the huge blockbusters. Set up my George Lucas back in 1976 to do the FX for starwars.

Did the advertising people suggest an alternative? Or did they just tell you it sucked and run away?

Name's fine. I wouldn't worry. The only thing it reminds me of is the Alamo... but that's just cause I'm insane =)
But seriously, it is fine... very unique. I never had a problem remembering it.
Maybe they said it sucks cause it is a sorta long Acronym A L A M D V.... easier to just call it "a LAM D V" but either way. I wouldn't change it.
This rant brought to you by chocolate milk? How much is enough?

You know what? I like the name even more now that I know what it means! I'm very comfortable with it, it has a nice number of syllables, keep it.

Well, 'Computer Video' (UK, May 2001 edition, page 16) has a one-third page insert on your product.
Unfortunately they call it "ALARMDV" and they also link to the website "www.alarmdv.com"
Maybe a hint on a new name??! Matt.

Yes. It's always nice to see a new product where the producers of the product keep a close watch/censorship on the related forums. Not only does this product blow but the producers do as well
NICE, REAL NICE...

Nice that you can be so accurate in describing the problems you are having with our program. Again (we deleted your last post) you have managed to write a completely useless post. Well done.
We have considered your opinion and decided that someone who is so hostile and can't even give a description of their problems is not worth our time.
We'll spend our time answering the questions of the 100's of people who don't think our program BLOWS.

Who is this anonymous guy? Who's rained on his parade? Is he a child? Is he not getting enough from the ladies? Has he got nothing better to do? Why should any of us care if a cro-magnum cave dweller such as him, with an IQ in single figures and an unmotivated attitude problem, has an opininion at all?
Those with nothing useful (or at least funny) to say should say nothing. Unfortunately, these are the type of people who just like to hear their own voices (or read their own text).
It is nice, however, to see support from those who appreciate what CSB is trying to do and for whom ALAMDV has become a useful tool.

Nothing wrong with AlamDv but like Studio Dv
its not a very catchy name in terms of marketing potential.
I would consider coming up with something more fresh. It sounds a bit too arabic.
This looks like a great program, cant wait to try it!
GeForce, SoundBlaster, Maya ...all have that spark to it which is good for marketing.
