Does anyone know what a .dmg file is? And if so, what programs can open it?

DMG files are compressed archives (like a ZIP file, RAR file, etc.) common among Unix variants, including Mac OSX. As far as I know, the latest version of Stuffit Expander will uncompress DMG files.

in OSX if you just double click on the file it should automatically mount it as a drive, failing that use diskcopy in the applications/utilities folder to mount it.
