hi,

at first i want to say that my english isn´t very good, so that you know... confused

ok, i´m a 15 years old pupil, and i saw in a little movie the incredible effects, and i already have thought to make a movie. so i wanted to buy this nice app, but unfortunately i haven´t got so much money (for a pupil £ 50 are very much money). sad
now i want to know, where/if there is a possibility to get it cheaper (i thought not more than 15 £)... oink

i would be happy for every answer smile

For video software, £49.99 is very cheap indeed. For special effects software, it is even cheaper. The value-for-money will become even greater with the release of AlamDV3.

Part of the ethos behind the company is that we want our software to be available to the maximum number of people out there, even filmmakers with the tiniest of budgets. The price of AlamDV2 really is as low as we could possibly go. I think most people are usually surprised by how cheap the program is, if anything.

yes, you are right in all points, IT IS CHEAP, but not for pupil! i mean, for a adult there are £49.99 "nothing", you know. for me that are 4 months pocket money!!!
maybe it´s possible to made a cheaper offer for people who are studying or which are in school?!

EDIT: ah, one question, when is the realease of AlamDV3? whats better in this new version and how much will it cost?

It's a vicious circle, I'm afraid. Just as you can't afford the program, we as a company cannot afford to sell it any cheaper. Although some other companies offer student discounts on their programs, remember that their programs often cost several hundreds of pounds in the first place!

But just think - four months of saving up your pocket money; a lifetime of filmmaking. wink

You could talk to your school about buying a couple of copies for using at school. We've already done trade with quite a few schools who were wanting cheap video editing setups.

Or theres always part time jobs for students, a weekend paper round never did anyone any harm, in my day...yadda yadda </old man rant>

Or theres always my personal favourite; sucking up to mum and dad around birthday time smile

Sorry, forgot to mention - AlamDV3 is aimed for release at the end of May. It's been redesigned and recoded from scratch, so is a major advance from AlamDV2.

More details can be found here:

Um, Ali, I myself am only 15 and I have managed to scrap up that money by saving. Just like I did to buy my camera myself. If I can do that for $1000 a year ago, you can probably do it for this. It won't get you what you want right away, but it can be done.

Oh ya, forgot to mention. Buying this program is definitely a good choice. I found it very user friendly and easy to figure out, even for someone like me that has been teaching himself everything. Special FX have never been this easy for this cheap! I can't wait to see what AlamDV3 has to offer and plan on buying Chrominator when it comes out.

This is definitely the most personal program I've ever tried, what with the talking to the people behind it and all on a regular basis.

will there be a package with all three programmes in one... possiby cheaper than buying all seperately...

Every time i've used alamdv 2 demo.. it won't load MS DV video!?
I hope you've fixed this problem because it would be really inconvinient converting things the whole time.. lol

Ali, my advice is - If you have many friends and you all enjoy making films and you think you will for many years to come... BUY THIS...
(Anyone who says you can grown up from making films.... twisted )
50 Quid is nothing for any average adult or student..... just save up for it.. u'll be pleased once u've got it... If you don't really make films then don't buy it...

Im a student too, its quite easy to sacrafice "those dvd's you really wanted or that pc game"...
the creativity you get from making films is superior to the entertainment u get from other things...

yeah, i think i´ll buy it, be cause we are min. 10 people, and so everybody has to pay ~ 8 Euro, that´s possible!!!

ah, and when we buy this together, is everybody allowed to use the serial on his own pc? or can you insert only one time the serial?
because maybe we want to use it on more than one pc´s...

Dude, I highly recommend this software for the beginning film maker. 50 pounds is really pocket change, even for a 15 year old. Over here in the US, if you buy a couple CDs and take your girlfriend out to the movies once, then you've spent about the same amount of money as buying AlamDV. So, unless you only earn about 2 pounds a month, then it's worth it to get the software. You'll find that the more you do this, the more money you'll find other software companies wanting. I suspect you'll find that AlamDV will be the least expensive piece of your film making arsenal, and yet it will be a vitally important one.

Here's an idea- go around to your neighbors and ask them if they have any odd jobs you could do for some money- Clean a garage, mow someone's grass, rake some leaves, wash people's cars for donations, whatever... I'm sure you'll find LOTS of opportunities to make some money if you'll just be a little resourceful. Good luck!

okay, i decided to buy it *juhuuuu* biggrin
but now i´ve got a question:

1. lightsword-effekt (do you say "lightsword"???): if you change the position of the hand (which has the lightsword), how can you change there the lightsword?
have i really change every frame? if there are 300 frames, then thats a long time...
or is it possible, that the lightsword follows your hand automaticly?

maybe someone could send me this effekt, then i´myself can test it... wink

You don't have to set it there every frame. The program uses something called "tweening" which lets you set keyframes. For instance, you put it there in the first frame, then you skip maybe twenty frames and set it again. the program will make the saber move from the first point to the second point as the movie goes on. so you just set keyframes throughout the thing and then check to make sure the sword goes the way you want it to. If not, just set another keyframe.

uh, one question: is the price really 49,99 or does it cost more because of the bank or something else?
do you understand? is this the [entgültige] price?

The card issue number is only for certain types of card like 'switch'. If you dont have an issue number then its ok to leave it blank.

If it still doesnt work recheck all your details to make sure they are correct and try again

mh, ok, and where can i see the card issue number IF i have one? is it on the credit card? because i just can´t check the card, because i phoned with my dad and he said it me!

edit: ah, i understand, my father has a VISA - card, do you know if there is a issue number ?
another question, in "Zipcode" i filled in "7128*" is this korrekt, or what should i fill in there?

I dont think Visa cards have issue numbers, it would be on the front of the card if they do, but im pretty sure they dont.

The zipcode needs to be the postcode/zipcode that your dads bank knows about. Probably your home address.

Hey - I too am a student and had to get a part time job in order to afford luxuries such as Alam razz

Quick point though - you say you haven't enough to buy Alam, bu how then can u afford the computer, fire wire card, digital video camera with dv out etc required to do the video part...? Or are you utilising the schools resources...
