Latest CSB news

It is all-systems-go at CSB-Digital. Everyone here is working non-stop on the new programs to try and squeeze out every last drop of performance and potential.

Chromanator is the main priority at the moment, of course, as it is the first of our new range to be released. Tim is currently slaving away on perfecting the enhanced render engine, which is an aspect of all the new programs that is a huge improvement over AlamDV2. Schwar is tweaking the user interface, which will be your first look at our new integrated design - we think you'll all be impressed with the new levels of control. Malone is working hard on the new website, as well as carrying out various other god-like duties. Tarn is piecing together the Chromanator manual, which is turning out to be a far heftier enterprise than the AlamDV2 manual.

DigiGrade and AlamDV3 are the next projects. We are working concurrently on all three programs, a process that is made easier due to the new integrated design structure, and the fact that the G6 engine can serve all three programs.

It's a busy time, but we wouldn't have it any other way! You can find out what all the fuss is about on April 28th, when Chromanator makes its grand debut...

Face-To-Face premiere

As covered in our very first Spotlight article, AlamDV regular Marco von Moos (aka Sollthar) has spent the past year working on his first professional feature film, Face-To-Face. On March 22nd, he announced that the film was at last complete. Even more exciting, however, was the news that Marco's directorial debut would be receiving its premiere on March 29th.

All of us at CSB-Digital would like to wish Marco and the Face-To-Face team the best of luck, both with the premiere and their future endeavours.

OzFest

A new competition is being organised by AlamDV user Gpmovies. The competition, dubbed OzFest, is designed to be a showcase for entrants' AlamDV skills. I'll hand it over to Gpmovies to explain the details:

"Only AlamDV effects are permitted. Anything else requires the Judges' prior permission. We will look over the entries and each week we will eliminate a few until we reach our final three winners. Comments from the voted-off videos will be posted on our site."

Gpmovies promises the website will be located at www.ozfest.xs3.com, although it is not online yet.

Movie Focus: The Cow Protector

One of the most entertaining additions to the AlamDV cinema in recent times, The Cow Protector is a wacky action comedy that offers genuine laughs, unlike many amateur comedy wannabes.

Following the adventures of one man, the short movie details his attempts to safeguard the lives of his cows, by wiping out a gang of cow-thieving ninjas.

Crucially, the editing is top-notch. The key to comedy is in timing, and the editing on display here shows that director v6proz knows how to steal a few laughs through clever cuts.

If you're looking for a highly entertaining and technically solid AlamDV movie, give The Cow Protector a look!

Yeah, sorry about that broken link. I've now sort-of fixed it...it would seem that Gpmovies hasn't got the website online yet.

CoolKabe - sorry the wait is so long, we're going as fast as we can! As the old adage goes - do you want it now, or do you want it good? smile We'll be releasing some more interesting pictures and more in-depth details on the programs soon, I promise!

Nope. New website is up 21st, with Chromanator following right behind. Then AlamDV3 and DigiGrade are to be released in subsequent months. All in line with the previous info, I think...

Yup I watched Starship Troopers yesterday and for some reason didn't read this newsitem till today. As well as the 'would you like to know more?'s it amused me that they have the cow protector and one of the most memorable bits of Starship Troopers is the cow getting sliced and diced.
