Break Down final land's and with no bump's in sight.

B4uask, as been a great mentor to myself and many other's I am sure, on the kind of way he goes about this site, he make's plug-in's, as well as his helpful advice, but the film's that he make's, the film's them selves vairy from the use of many different prog's, but the main helpful prog is Alamdv and without the effect's we would all look silly running around.

But there is one main project that B4 has alway's put his heart into, the love of stargate, the film and the seris. I must say this, one of the first film's that I watched from Alamdv was infact B4's first 'So You Call It A StarGate' film, being a stargate nut myself, it was intresting to see what someone had done with the name and I was supprised with what I was seeing. Yes I had seen the SW stuff and was more than impressed with the FX's that people had used, but there are so many and only a handful of people (user's) hand taken a different direct from the SW scene. Don't get me wrong love SW biggrin .

But someone had taken a totally different direction, going down the line of a film that had turned into a mini series, using that idea and moulded that into his own project.

The idea, was then turned into idea's and he worked hard to get what people he could, to help him out to make the vision into reality and that's what he did do - turn his idea into reality.

Now a couple of year's on he has just released the 3rd in the series (Trilogy in film sence) and this film show's how far his vision has come.
Getting better and better with every new Ep release.

I am not a smoke blower/butt kisser or Biased, the above statement is true and comes from me, but my partner and myself, were involved in this Ep. We had great fun doing our part's and now have finally got the chance to see what the master has done.

The Story:

The film carry's on three month's after Ep.2.
The SG1 team are out on another mission, but strange going's on with the team's weapon's and an attack ship appearing set's the team off on another adventure.
The unknown ship that has been in orbit, now make's an appearance again, but we find out who is inside of the ship - Who could it be?
Major Sam Carter where about's get explained.
Where has Major Tom been, he has not been since Ep.1?

New member's of the SG team and old, all make an appearance.

Great funny/whacky moment's that have kept us lol all the way from Ep.1, newer matterial's and whacker idea's that stand out from the crowd.

Not going to say anything more - as not wishing to spoil the film.

The Sound:

The sound from the internet version is clear as you could get from a compressed version and is better than most compressed file's.

Sound effect's are greatly used, but not OTT and give a real feeling of the real series.

Music is also take from the series.

The Pointer's:

If this was Ep.1/2 then I would be saying, get more people involved to give the whole thing a little bit more of a sence of realism, following just three to four people does get a little bit boring, but does not ruin the film.
More where used in Ep.2, but only as extra's, not as key player's in the film itself, but gave more depth, rather than story and that's what it needed more people.

The general effect's for the stargate itself is rather plain, plain a bad word, rather good but not 100% accurate of the series and need's attention.
(That's where my plug-in came in use wink ).

But with Ep.3, there are vast improvement's, some great, unbelievable masking has been used within the SFX, but whilst watching you should be enjoying the film, then go back and see what I am talking about.

There are more actor's involved this time around and are used to a great effect to the story and the fact that there are more people within the base or field of stargate than ever before.

All in all, there is only limitation's now that can be any real pointer's and this could be done through the team getting more people involved with the SFX, using AlamDV, helping do the SFX and then sending it onto B4uask. Working on getting some newer effect's, that look like the series one's and getting people involved making them (I for one am going to be watching some footage from the TV show's and see what I can do to help)

I was also suprised to see my star collapes effect in use as well, infact I sat there watching and it didn't even click until the thrid time it happend.
It does make you feel good, watching your own plug-in's as well as knowing that people do use them.

There are still gaps within the story that may well be explained in the following film, but that's the point - keep them hanging on and wanting more.

And that's what we want - More biggrin

End Score:

5

Looked pretty cool but crashed at about 27 minutes in, suddenly I got an error message that windows media player could not play the file. I have gotten this message before but never after the file started playing, so I don't know what the deal is but I am not going through all the time to download again. I liked the film up to that point, I especially liked the humor of the character names.

Bravo! Encore! Encore!

I enjoyed it thoroughly - definitely the best of the series thus far biggrin Splendid performances all 'round (yes, even you, Ol' Dav lol), augmented by superb effects and props! Coupled with a great storyline (complete with gut-busting humour), you've got a winner here, b4!

One suggestion: use a boom mike to pick up dialogue - it will add a professional touch to your work smile

Great work, everyone! *Gives a well-deserved standing ovation*

The sound effects were really cheesy - and the AlamDV stuff seemed kind of akward -

But compared to most of the recent cinema uploads it's definitly a lot better - -

Not bad!

Hey there.
Time for my 2 pennies worth.
Firstly B4; well done bro. Best of the series so far.
The FX looks a damned sight better and you even have the shadows of the fighter craft.
The explosions on the city were pretty good as well.
The Stargate whooshing out is a new one I think. Is it a plug in or a photoshop job? Either way, it gets to do a bit more this time around : razz

The music is well placed as well and well timed. The only sound advice has already been given for using mic's next time. I'd agree with that for some outdoor scenes, as the wind picks up in a few places.

The acting is a whole lot better this time. Peter really got stuck into his role there.
"I wont...break...down!" Go there Pete. cool

The plot worked better as it wasn't rushed and I guess that is in part, due to a longer running time. The CGI definately is a lot better though.
And the use of Alam FX worked well.

One point to pick up on was made by Mecha.
You say the sound effects were cheesy. AFAIK, they are from the show! Ripped directly! Which sounds do you mean?
Also which Alam FX look akward. Give a guy a hand.
Personally, I thought they looked damned good considering this was made on a budget on sweet F.A biggrin

B4, explain to me how you did the Alien Handshake please!

On the whole, story, acting and FX-wise, it's the best of the 3 so far and the learning curve has been rapid!

Well done to all involved.

Just watched it again and just wanted to point out the bit with the alien hand shake its pretty nifty, i have been trying little movies having cgi models intereact with the real person, i dont think many movies have that on here and i am writing a script for a paranormal film which will have some of these eeffects in it nice job b4! biggrin

"I WON,T BREAKDOWN"

Well done to b4 for the excellent work at putting the film together, going from one scene to the next made it great.

Only one 3 star rating but i expected that as there are children on here who can,t make a good film so bring everybody else down.

Anyway thanks to all for your honest votes and if want to be in one of our stargate films the just talk to b4...he,ll make a star of you as he has of me.....cheers b4 razz

PS: I want to bring you down. cool

You should try doing some color correction for some of your next movies - it'd probably help a lot.

Even if the sounds were taken from the show, some work needs to be put into mxing them with your scene. The abrupt, loud water noises didn't really mix. The wooshes and punch noises could have been toned down a bit as well.

The 3d was well concieved, but it still seemed to be pretty amateur. If you were to upgrade to something like 3d max or lightwave, you could probably fix that over-saturated, artificially lit look. 3d max also has some great compositing tools that I think you would appreciate.

The music flowed very well, which is something you usually don't see in these kinds of films.

The outside scenes could have been better had you tried more to keep the sun out of the background, or messed with your camera's settings to keep the people from becoming very dark. Other than that, direction, acting, and costumes were pretty flawless. I was actually kind of impressed with the acting.

overall, a four from me. Don't forget that I don't rate on effort, but rather on the final look. Enjoyable, entertaining movies get a four. Profressionally looking ones get a five, and you still have a little ways to go. Maybe just a little more work in post production, and you'd get it.

thanks for the comments mecha and sidewinder,
i haven't really done any color correction ( ever ) so any tips would be good, i'm ( honestly ) now going to you premiere insted of the pinnacle studio 7 with it's 2 sound tracks ( thus some poor dubbing )

so i'm sure that premeire shoudl sort those sound problems out, does prem have a color correction ( i was waiting digi-grade from csb crew )

Some of the shapce scenes at the start do seem a bit washed out, but i was trying a new idea i had.

insted of masking, i made the animation and sky in bryce and took the whole sky out, bet you never knew the sky was cgi !!!
this way i could have me or tree's infront of the sky/ship.

Any help on he colour correction would be great.
thanks

Great fun! Thats the Tagline of my "review"... GREAT FUN. Cause that's what this film is. I personally think it's the funniest and best of all three yet. Was cool to see some old and some new faces in the film. The Effects were well done and reached a level they didn't reach yet in the other two.
As well as the actors who seemed to be more and more comfortable with their parts and seem to live them more and more, wich was fun to see. smile

My congratulations to all involved, one can really see that there went a lot of work, love and blood into this and I think that is what is so charming about the Call it a stargate films.

Of course, there are some things one could nag about, but honestly... who cares? wink

It was great fun!!! smile

Well for generic color correction you probably could just mess with the contrast and brightness of footage - or use a color correction plugin (depending on what you're editing with). It helps get rid of the DV look.

Ah dangit I don't wanna sound like a advertisement BUT you could wait for DigiGrade too.

WHOOO! Another one! I had downloaded it last night, was gonna watch it but had some reserch to do. I was thinking about it all day in school. As soon as i was back, i opened a coke and sat down to enjoy it. lol

DAMN THE EFFECTS WERE WAY BEYOND MY EXPECTATIONS. In the first two movies u used the same tricks and effects. But went beyond that in this one. I see u finally given LOADS of shadows. Are these in ae? or the alpha shadow plugin?

Some times the masking went bad and there was to much bluescreen spill but as sollthar put it "who cares?" biggrin

I would love to help in any way i can the the 4th movie lol

Ah and do u mind sending me a DVD of this? wink

I've watched this movie a few times and thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by the B4 team.To have organised so many Alam "volunteers"is alone a work of art, the idea of using so many club members has truly paid off with lots of you guys out there wanting to participate in the next epic...lol...(did'nt see your name on list "moe"...hehe)
The quality and applied skills of "Stargate"movies is improving by leaps and bounds even the acting, which is always a "dodgy"area in amateur films, is getting almost pro with some of the characters excelling themselves (take a bow Peter) and not forgetting the Alien "Head"who without doubt is the most "illuminating"of all....LOL
The FX were used with great skill and subtlety making the film a real Sc-Fi experience.
Humour was in abundance with some fantastic "one liners" and also some slick visual gags.....well done fella's it's the best so far.
BTW B4 have'nt got my script yet for the latest.... hmmmmm....I bet "Sollthar"s got his though.......I refuse to be written out of the next one
my wife said that " the sreen lit up when I switched on".........LOL

the first one isn't bad.
the people just kind of 'appear' from underneath the 3d scenery though. . . you might want to have that fixed

and I wasn't sure what the second one was. . . . at first, it seemed like he was holding her from falling off a cliff. . . but they were both on the ground. . . then there was the baby. . . then he walked away.. . . it didn't seem to make any sense
but I'll trust that when shown in proper context all will be clear.

thanks for the comments but i did try to make the TEST bit stand out.

the girl is caught in quicksand.

all sorted in the full version, but I wanted people to see it before it's done so when they see the full version they should say WOW

Quicksand! that clarifies things a lot! in that light, I'd like to say that they did a darn fine job of acting. the emotion was well portrayed.

and I totally understood that they were test clips. I did like that first one quite a bit . . like I said about the people though, that'll be important to make sure that it gets sorted out

some nice work, b4; this next one should be totally killer!

I must say that I liked the effects of this film, as well as the attempt at a plot, which sadly lacks in most movies here, with exceptions of course but that's another debate.

Ambitious stuff, especially that pull out from the appartment revealing a ship in space! Wow!

Pace of editing was slow though and it bugged me a little but what saves the piece the most is the humor, I really dug the touch with the War of the Worlds ship, and it just illustrates that humor is key when you doa low budget movie. Laugh with the audience and they won't laugh at you! biggrin

Good work in my book!

A 4.

Too bad B4 I must reply. Just to tell you to calm down. You clearly may have some confidence issues. Just sit back and relax man. Your in the works with your next film that I'm sure will blow the other films out of the water with it's sparkling brilliance. I wanted to see another episode just to see if I would like it more than openday that's all. But I didn't and I reviewed it as if it were just another film. Please calm down B4 and learn how to love, and not how to hate. I'm not aiming at you. The only person in this world that I'd aim at is my ex-bestfriend who stabbed me in the back by putting moves on my ex-gurlfriend. So you are ok in my book good buddy.

PEACE OUT

P.S. And CSB guys please Don't delete these posts because B4 needs to let by gones be by gones and let the filming flow naturally like a fresh river spring.

Prat technically means buttocks or arse however is most commonly used to mean idiot or fool. It originally meant a trick or a joke played on someone and over the years transfered to the person who is the butt of the joke then to a general fool/idiot.

(Get my pun there? Good wasn't it.) razz

Hey, hmm i hope you guys do become a little more friendly to each other, anyway off that subject. this movie wasnt too bad. I mean im not a big star gate fan. and i would say would be rather biast to it. But this film wasnt too bad. Effects were nicely done i liked the bit with the, holographic ships.

the sound of the baddie in the cloak, forgot his name. his voice kind of put me off. i guess it was just to english lol I just think the deep voice, with a cokney accent, sounds pretty weird lol.

I would write more, but i havent slept all day for like 24 hours, so im pretty tired. and i dont think i can really comment fairly. so keep it up. and im awaiting youre next production !!!!
