This is the second (third really, but second good one) test that I've done for our upcoming Matrix short. This is quite a bit more complicated than the previous one, but I think it shows.

Did you watch both of them? If you don't watch both of them, you'll not be able to tell. I was skeptical if it looked much different until I watched the first one again. So watch both of them back to back.

I need some criticisms here, folks. Your silence tells me that my effect is either perfect or it's the worst thing you've ever seen and you can't even comment on it. The whole reason I'm showing the second test is because I wanted to hear some feedback on it. So let's go! Get a move on! Heh.

Again, a nice effect that i can't wait to see in a movie.

I think everyone on this site is grossly under-rating it. I say again: give me a link to a better ripple effect, and I will resign.

I noticed today that the ripple in the Bulletproof monk trailer is almost exactly like mine. Check it out, guys. http://www.apple.com/trailers/mgm/bulletproof_monk/ It's about halfway through on both trailers. I'm not trying to go for an exact look to the matrix, I'm just making a ripple, and being original about it. But yeah, that one looks a lot like mine.

It wasn't final cut pro. I'm not telling how I did it. Not until the actual movie comes out anyway.

i am most positive that he used 3dsmax. If u watch it before the second bullet fires u can see a ripple cylindar move across the screen on the left

he didn't use a 3d program he prolly just did it frame by frame in photoshop. but it looked pretty bad...he was complaining in another thread about how people wont tell him how to make it look better but he won't even tell people how to make it look crappy like that.

If it looks so crappy, why would you want to make it? And I used after effects for it, by the way. No 3d.

Hey,

Aculag, which codec did you use to render this? I can't seem to get the video to play. It's audio only. I have hte latest divx codec. Can you point me in the right direction?

Regards,
Brent

Greybro, it's just quicktime encoded with .mp4. So you need the latest version of quicktime to see it.

Hello. My name is casey. Tonight I am making a short film that combines the matrix with star wars and all of those cool effects that are in each movie. I was watching some Matrix movies in the cinema at alamdv.com and I was wondering how the freak you did that. That was badass! Could you give a brief explanation as to how you did that?
