Actually we do this twice a year.

Why?

Because every April and October, the local Cable Access station gives out grants, and this time we were able to get away with a whopping $600!

So I bought a new PC for 3d animation. Woo!

The avatars are really sweet, man! I couldn't tell at first that it was actually sidewinder in it, i had to look closer. Mecha's is funny.

suggestion: make the signature images a little smaller? I know mine is big, but it would get hard to read smaller, yours wouldn't.

you put "". Of course, without the quotation marks.

Hey, judging from your name, are you by chance...a girl?

If so, I think you're the first and only one on this site. tard

magic_man: $600 US is about $1000 CAN. I can get quite a good computer for $1000 here. so it sounds quite reasonable to me. (mines about $1200 CAN without the monitor which was worth $1350-dont ask, i didn't pay for it)

roxygirl: yes, nice photo indeed. Welcome aboard. I do beleive with your 13 posts you are definetely the most ACTIVE girl here.

Magic_man12: No, it is not "el cheapo" It's quite nice. I already have a PC and everything. You can get just the computer itself for a pretty reasonable price. Yeah, what Cypher said.

Ice_man: I promise that I'll build my next computer, if that helps.

I know it's not the best, but seriously, how well do you think it'll perform, and was it worth $540 dollars?

It's still a major improvement over my blazing fast 600 mhz PC. Oh yeah!

Roxy: Are you gonna submit any movies to the cinema?

Oh, and I told you guys would start hitting on you. razz

you should bust onto ICQ, sidey

anyway, 540 isn't totally horrible for that

it's underpowered. . . . I'm assuming you went with the 512 of DDR instead of the gig of PC133?. . . . ooh! an ATA133 drive! SATA is way faster. . . . . and it's got a sub-par video card

I'll just say that you guys weren't totally taken for a ride when compared with what you could have gotten

Maybe I should post a news item about the first girl to join up? Main headline in the end-of-the-month Round-Up, perhaps? cool

It would be nice to have a few more ladies around these parts - we may have an incredibly diverse mix of nationalities, with users from all round the world, but the gender balance is still depressingly one-sided!

Anyway, back to work after all this excitement...

$600? eek If you don't mind me asking, what the heck do you guys do for your local cable station? Whatever it is, I might as well try it with mine. Hopefully I'll finally be able to buy Final Cut Pro and DVD Studio Pro. Anyway, the signatures kick ass, and I always liked both of your avatars. (I would change mine, but it would be so small, you wouldn't see it)

And as for Roxy : Great to have you with us. I can't wait to see what movies you come up with.

Just go in to your local cable access station, and ask them if they offer grants. You'll have to take it from there, since I'm betting they all kind of work differently...

the pic is actually of my lil' bro Kyle. He is off on anouther one of his private tours of the white house. So I figured I play alittle joke on him. (he hates all the pics that I have gotten of him in suit and tie while he is giving speaches) So when he comes back I am going to show him how wide spead his pic was gotten. smile (so send it around)

My girl would get alittle mad if I was hitting on girls online.

I'm fine, thank you. I happen to be home right now for my 4th hour class, as it is my "Independent Study Class". WE actually get to work on our movies, and count it as a class.

Orion: I live about 30 minutes East of the Twin Cities.

Wiry: Yes, we'll make the sig pics smaller.

I find that for the most part (roxy may be an exception) girls like Lord of the Rings for two reasons:

1. Orlando Bloom
2. Viggo Mortenson

I don't think I know a girl who says, "Oh yeah, that was a great movie. I really like Christopher Lee in it." Or, "The effects they used for Gollum were amazing."
It's always, "Yeah, that was a great movie. Orlando Bloom is way cute!"

...Women... lol

Mostly for me it's Orlando Bloom. It was the same way for star wars. All the girls were like, "Oh, hayden christensen is so hot!" Or, "oh, ewan mcgregor is so hot."

Of course, on the same note, all the guys were like, "oh, natalie portman is so hot, and yoda is so cool. And sam jackson is so hot... I mean... badass... seriously guys.... guys?" Then they realize they've been laying in bed talking to themselves. Haha.

yeah it is, i went on here yesterday and there were only 5 pages. oh yea, just to clear everything up, i do think orlando bloom is hot smile , but thats not the reason why i like the movie. it actually is the effects and the story line (I read the first two books) And I though peter jackson did a very good job. Im not the kinda girl who pays money just to see cute guys in movies. I only did that once w/ heath ledger razz

oh yea, and no ones scarin me away, i'm having fun in this forum smile

Yeah, I saw it in front of Anger Managment. I thought the ad was really clever and I was laughing the whole time. The friends I were with didn't seem to get it and I had to explain "He's an agent trying to get you to drink Powerade so the Matrix has more energy..."

::sigh::

I guess sometimes people don't deserve to have jokes explained to them.

hey, I wanna start making some plug-ins, and so far I have Cinema 4d. Does anyone have any suggestions of other good programs that I can use along with Cinema 4d?

I just watched it again the other day. Then watched the commentary, which kinda makes bryan singer sound like a pompous ass. But it's a great movie. The sequel looks fantastic. Can't wait!

Just so yall know Brian Singer is a pompous ass. He is only in the movie industry cuz his mommy and daddy have lots of money....He is a real jerk and a bunch of people in the "INDUSTRY" don't have much respect for him...

P.S.: Singer is almost as much of a pompous ass as the racist Spielberg...

Speilberg a racist? Racist against... who, again?

Singer is a pompous ass. If anyone doesn't think so, watch the commentary on the X-Men 1.5 DVD. Craaaaaaaaazy.

X2 should be cool cause the Nightcrawler special effects are friggin AWESOME. The job they did with the going in and out of smoke is cool.

Brian Singer = X men director?

Why is Speilberg a racist?

Speilberg made Amistad but the movie had nothing to do with the slaves it ended up being about the only white man that could save them....Speilberg denied his Jewish heritage all of his life until it became socially accepted and alright to be Jewish which is when he made Schindler's List which is about a Christian who is the only one that can save the poor oppressed Jews...I could go on and on, I have connections to the industry and I have the inside scoop on a lot of things that the public doesn't know...
