New project -- possibly need help!

Hey guys -- Let me start by saying I already have someone in mind for this, so I need to wait until they respond to me -- if they don't want to do it or don't respond, this opportunity is open.
I started a club awhile back and we want to create a video to play at comic conventions we attend as sort of an advertisement. I already have a rough script, but I don't have the resources here to create the video (no actors unfortunately). I'd really like one of the talented people here to take a stab at it if anyone is willing! A couple points:
1.) I'll pay for all props we need for the video. If you're not local, I'll ship them to you after we discuss the script and make sure we're good to go.
2.) I'm open to suggestions to improve the script. If we're reviewing it and there's something you don't like, we can possibly change it.
3.) I really want this to be killer, so I assume you'll want to enter your video in a couple contests I'm aware of. It gets you recognized and gets our club's name out there too
4.) I currently don't have any money to pay you for your work unfortunately (but I can definitely nag the club to see if I can get some cash out of them). If money is a big factor, it's probably not your gig.
5.) I want someone that wants to work on a project and really put themselves into it. The club has deep industry connections (we can discuss that if you're interested), and your film will be seen by some really big names from the club's subject matter (the club is based on a cartoon/toy/comic).
I need to wait a couple days to see if I get a response from the other guy, but feel free to post here or email firstname.lastname@example.org
and I'll answer your questions!!

If i can get a little more details abuot the specifics of the movie, it might be something that I would look into doing. I wouldn't even charge you (except for expenses involving the project, such as props, as you mentioned). I would also request my production company's name on the project.
I'm getting a bit ahead of myself though, since I need to know more about the film first. Oh, btw, I live in TX, so there is a distance between us.

Hey guys! Excellent comments.. a couple things tho:
I still haven't heard back from the person I'm waiting on, so I didn't want to provide too many details to start with (because I don't want someone to be really excited about doing it, then I have to turn them down). I'm honestly shocked to see so much interest already! Maybe I should have a contest to see who does the best one
To give you a little more background, we've got a major comic convention coming up in August. We'd like to have the video completed well in advance of then. What I'd like to do is select who's doing the video quickly, then run through the script. I'll leave it up to the person/people we choose to come up with a list of prop expenses that we'll walk through and ultimately I'll approve (and send the props and/or cash to you). Keep in mind that I can direct from the internet, so location really isn't a factor if you're a talented filmmaker. Anyone interested should have something already created for me to see and possibly be ready to walk through a couple test shots to see if we're a good fit to work together. If you have specific questions, please feel free to email me at email@example.com
or post them here. Thanks!!

I'm pretty interested in this, but i would really like to know more (maybe its a certain type of video that either i dont like or would have trouble doing), but i have tried a fair amount of genres.
I'm located in Toronto, Canada. You can see (almost) all of my works here: www.scope-films.com
(there will be 3 more big films added on friday, so stay tuned!)

I've had no response from the people I had lined up to do it, so here goes!
A few months ago, I was really stoked about the re-release of the popular 80s cartoon He-Man. I started a fan club to meet up every month or so and trade figures, talk about the cartoon, comic, toys, etc. I didn't know how well a club would do, but I decided to give it a go anyway..
Today we're growing by leaps and bounds. We're sponsored by the largest Comic retail chain in Illinois and we continue to pull in new members. We've got a lot of stuff going on the backburners, and one of them is a fan-based film to show at comic/toy conventions when we get a booth. We also want to send it to our industry contacts as well. Not sure where it might lead, but we've got some major connections (I'll explain to the person that we choose).
Since so many people have responded with interest, I'd like to give everyone that wants a chance at the video to have a shot. Some of the benefits of being the chosen one will be:
Being seen by industry giants
Being shown at toy/comic conventions whenever we get a booth (1000s of people probably)
All props paid for by me
Special surprise from the club
I don't want this to drag on because we've got a quick deadline we need to meet. I want to have a quick contest, choose the winner, then let them read through the script with me and get going on the film. Unfortunately we may not have a lot of time.
The actual video will be shot in three different acts and shouldn't be any longer than 5-10 minutes total. To get your name in the running, I need a test shot of a scene in the actual video. Here's a generic description of the scene -- be as creative as you want:
Your roommate just got turned into an evil action figure with magic powers. Do a quick action sequence of you fighting the figure, deflecting some of its magic and knocking the figure unconscious, then a shot of the figure waking up with you doing something to get back at it for trying to kill you.
Feel free to use any generic figure or props that you have lying around. The person we choose to do the video will be able to come up with a list of props and materials they need for the video for us to approve. Depending on the plans for the video, I'm not opposed to spending quite a bit of money on the actual props if we can do something cool.
Good luck everybody!

To be fair to the person we choose, I'd like to have all the entries in by May 17th. That should give everyone enough time to get something done. Also, if anyone wants to bounce stuff within their test clip off me, that's fine too. We honestly want to find the best person for the project.
On a side note: Cypher, I'm definitely looking forward to your stuff. I've seen your other vids and I'm totally impressed.

Here's a brief rundown of how the test clip might play out. Feel free to start with the section of the action figure fight. The other is optional and helps provide a glimpse into what's leading into the fight scene. If I don't get any more interest by the weekend when Cypher turns his entry in, I may cancel the contest early. Let me know if anyone else is interested!!
[Camera pans around the room. JEFF is sitting at a computer surfing the web. Loud noise outside is followed by Jeff turning his head quickly toward the door with an annoyed look on his face. Door bursts open and SCALPITOR walks in, hands full of action figures.]
Jeff: (still annoyed) Dude, I tried to hit your cell phone. Where have you been?
[Scalpitor doesn't respond. Breathing hard, he drops the figures in the floor into a pile. He reaches down and picks up two and holds them high over his head, chuckling with glee.]
Jeff: Whatever dude.. THIS came for us.
[Jeff holds up a "past due" notice for rent. Scalpitor rips it out of his hand and throws it on the ground. He runs to the computer and goes to eBay.]
Scalpitor: All the money in the world will be mine!
Jeff: (picks up past due notice) Alright dude, that's just bad karma. Toys aren't made for scalping. You'll get yours.
[For simplicity here, Scalpitor clicks on something then leans back in his chair, terrified. Bright flash, then morph him with an action figure.]
The next section is really up to you and it's really what we're looking at. Feel free to dub in voice, etc. Basically, Scalpitor is hurling fire and magic all around the room to test out his powers. He quickly turns on Jeff. Jeff's able to find a mirror or a reflective surface and knock one of the magic blasts back at Scalpitor. Scalpitor gets knocked out. Cut to black.
Camera comes back on and Jeff's found a way to keep Scalpitor at bay (twine, tape, etc.) For the rest of this test shot, it's basically Jeff's chance to get back at his roommate for all the crap he's put him through. This should be as funny as you can make it. You may want to film several point of view shots (from Scalpitor's viewpoint) as well. If you want to bounce your ideas off me before you do it, that's cool too. Keep in mind you can actually start with the action figure fight sequence because that's what we'll mostly be looking at. I wanted to give you a bigger window so you understand the backstory as well. Let me know if you have questions!

Hey guys.. a quick update:
We now have two people trying out for the video. If no one else responds, I'll end the contest as soon as I get entries from both. The end date is May 17 or earlier. Thanks to everyone for looking!!

We're expecting our first entry this week. If there are no other entries or interest in this project by the time we get that entry, we may end the contest early. Please don't wait to let me know you're doing the test clip if you plan to.

I can give no definite as to whether or not i'll be able to do this on time, but I will try to. The question is whether or not I can get another actor and maybe a cameraman before then. I'm just saying that there is a third person possibility.

Hi, dude. It was ages ago i saw you, how did it go with the other project i helped u with?
Never mind. I would really love of beeing a part of the project, but i sry to say i got my hands full. Its the last year of the school and I already got a huge project with the swedish counter-strike site.
Anyway, I thought of just try to get the preview thing ready, but its hard to make him into an action figure, when you dosn't have all the things that u want. Ive done some storyboards how i thought it would look, and Im just to busy to get into the project right now.
But you might see something from me, but im not sure, otherwize cypher is a great guy and I think he deserve it anyway.
Im sure he come up with something cool. I would love to see his work, contact me if you want any other help.
Edit: Dude, ill prolly give it a go till the 17may. just want to hear from you so i know this isn't already finnished.

Hey, i just saw this forum today and i'm really interested in doing this if the option is still open. I can probably have one done by the end of this week if it is. So far I only have two of my videos online. http://malik.teamlan.net/superman.avi
which is a rather large divx .avi, and http://malik.teamlan.net/elite.mov

Not a problem
To answer your prop question, that'll really need to be decided after we choose the person to film the video and finalize the script. Whoever wins can contact ya if they need those.
Thanks for the support!!
