I know I'm in the midst of a heated roast in the cinema section...but I was just wondering what everyone thought of this idea for when fx.home came out...
Why not have (with the cinema section) a pictures section instead? I know a bunch of people who have edited pictures with alamdv and they look incredible. Since a digital camera takes a much finer picture than a video camera, you would have so much better quality for one. Secondly, a picture is worth a thousand words right? People could vote on them in the same way and people would be pushed to be as creative as they can to make the most entertaining still images as possible.
Here's an example =)http://filebox.vt.edu/users/jirwin/sabershave.jpg

Yuck! Get that lens flare out of there, and that's a good picture.

hmm..I'm not sure, I think in real life, the lightsaber may cause a lens flare if it was that close to the camera...but I guess we'll never know *sigh*

Maybe, but people tend to overuse lens flares in photoshopped images. Just because it's soooo coool!! Or maybe... not. I have a thing against lens flares in general. Don't get me wrong. It's a cool pic, I'm just not fond of lens flares.
And about a part of the site dedicated to pictures... That's a good idea, but I can't really imagine how much variety you'd get from it. I have a feeling it'd be mostly pictures of people with lightsabers. You COULD do a hell of a lot of stuff with images though.
What's your avatar, by the way?

With the cinima we link movies from other servers to alam. If we did a picture thing it we would have to upload it unto the csb server (or we would have a problem with image linking) thus making the server slower.
Maybe I am wrong, Malone might want to clear it all up.
I enjoy watching movies over looking at pictures. So maybe they could have both. Just a thought who knows what fxhome.comn will hold

by no means am I saying get rid of the cinema...I just meant ad an EXTRA section for pictures...and people could upload pictures the same way they upload movies...just send the link of the already hosted picture and then AlamDV would link to it.
-And my avatar is the cover to E.S. Posthumus's CD...

Naw. Just put it on another funny pictures site if you really feel inclined to do so.

or just post them in the forum like you are doing now. If it becomes really popular I will sort out a proper page for them.

I would have to agree with mecha, we don't need a picture section with alam. you could put links on the forum that we could look at.

alright..sounds good...by the way, E.S. Posthumus (if you heard some of their songs you would recognize them) they play in a lot of movie trailers (it's high intensity choral music-when you hear it you would know you cant really use most of their songs in anything else BUT trailers...Great stuff...They were introduced to me in the spiderman trailers with their song Pompeii

AlamDV is incredible for adding effects to movies, but I find it more efficient and the overall quality is better when I just go solo with Photoshop. Explosions might look cool, however

Yeah, photoshop is probably the better way to go there.
