Hi

So, as you know we are in early stage of preproduction for a shortfilm, based on a dark comic we are creating.

What seems to be a much bigger Problem than we thought is a name for the Hero... crazy

What we need is a oneword name that sounds dark and strong. All we could come up with are names that already exist or sound kind of strange, but to give you an example in wich direction we want to go, names were like: Shadow, Shade, Blackskull, Darkman, Avenger...
Best thing would be as short as possible, like "Spawn". A name people can call him without braking their tongues or having to make a speech... wink

I'll give 100 Forcepoints to the one giving us the name we will use or base on!

Right...

The background on him is, he was a cop whos skin got burned completely while chasing a villain. When he awakes in the hospital, he wears that medical suit that protects his skin and pumps his body full of adrenaline. He doesn't have any memories of who he was, the only thing he remembers clearly is the fire he burned in and the face of the villain, laughing at him.
He has to life hidden from that day on, seeking for his identity.

What I like to do is to use the names of Greek and Roman gods/goddesses. They have meanings behind their names and stories detailing their lives. A Greek/Roman god with a modernized story makes for an excellent character biography.

The ones that I think will fit the name well are Apollo, Pheobus, Helios, or Sol (God of the sun. They drove fiery chariots.) By the way, Sol is the name of my movie and main character (to be released shortly). There is Vulcan or Hephaestus, God of the forge/fire. Ares, god of war. King of winds: Aeolus. King of North Wind: Boreas. South Wind: Notus. West Wind: Zephir. East Wind: Eurus. God of Light: Aether. Goddesses who delivered Justice: Furies (they were female, but noone has to know this. They have a badass name). God of death: Mors/Thanatos. God of Dreams: Morpheus. There is Calisto and Syrinx, and I forget what they're the god of. There are also the Greek/Roman monsters: Centaur, Sirens, Chimera, and Satyr. Then there is Father Time of the Greeks, a Titan, Cronus. A mythical creature, Talos.

This is all I can remember for now. You can do more research on ancient mythology to get more ideas.

Sollthar, it doesn't matter that Revenant was already taken, if you like it, use it!
Facd/Off a film by John Woo with awseome gunfights
Face Off a film by George McCowan about hockey

The Patriot a film by Roland Emmerich starring Mel Gibson
The Patriot a film by Dean Semler starring Steven Seagal *gags*

Se7en a film by David Fincher starring Brad Pitt about serial killings
Seven a film by Andy Sidaris about gangsters taking over hawaii

and the list goes on. . . .

as you can see, it happens all the time. Name it Revenant, if that's what you liked.

what about Aegis? the Aegis was the shield of the Greek god Zeus. since then, it has come to mean shield, or protection; it can also mean guidance.

I think that would fit pretty darn well, call his protective life suit the Aegis suit. . . his armor is where he draws his 'power' from anyway, so it would seem very apropos

when he starts whoopin' bad guy butt, everyone knows him as the Aegis, their protector, their own presonal aegis to use one of the definitions of the word

and on the plus side, there haven't been any movies with that title.

or perhaps, Sandwhich? seriously everybody loves sandwhiches, so the character would be appealing to a wide range of audiences. Sandwhiches are dark and mysterious too, I once picked up a ham and rye thinking it was going to be just that, a ham and rye, but it was really a turkey and pepper-jack on pumpernickle. Mysterious huh?

Well, when I first saw the picture of the character, one thought went through my mind:

Ace of Spades

That is not my suggestoin for a name though, it just made me think of it. Let's see, a name....

Colt
Onyx
Panther
Crow
Bane
Blackgaurd
Nightcast
Deathrose (as in the flower, not the action of getting up)
Ghost
Vengence
Ash
Poison
Miasma
Plague
Vestige
Veil
Menace
Knave

That's all I have right now. Course, the best name i ever came up with is my member name here. That was a villain, not exactly a supervillain, but he was definitely evil. It doesnt' really fit this character though, other than midnight.

Jesus people learn to read.

By the by. Dunno whether this might raise any legal issues or not but apparantly there is a game called "Nightcaster" and a sequel that is coming out soon.

Probably nothing but just trying to give a heads up.
