Urge to kill.. rising....
Nope! I have no idea how to do it. It was definitely done with a 3D program though. So.. I'd assume, just model some shelves with whatever you want on them, and then animate them coming from a long way away and bluescreen your act people into it, unless you have a huge white room that's incredibly brightly and evenly like they did in the movie, then put your animation into it.

A rundown of how to do the effect
1. You need your subjects to be filmed on a bluescreen. When filming tie a string to the trenchcoates or whatever clothes they are wearing and pull it when you intend the shelves to fly by. OR you could get a leaf blower and just turn it up to max at your subjects intead of strings. Probably would be more realistic.
2. Key out the blue so its a nice white background. Might want to make the edges of your subjects soft to simulate the brightness of the white.
3. Go into your 3d app and create a shelf model. This would be REALLY easy to do as the shelves are going by so quickly it wouldnt need alot of detail. Then dupilcate it so that there are tons of rows of them. Join all of them together. Then with your video as a reference have the shelves come flying at the camera from a really far distance. Export with an alpha channel or export on blue.
4. If the 3d was on a blue background, repeat step 2. Now put the 3d layer under your video layer. If it is off synch when it goes flying by the subjects time-stretch it (AE term dont know what it is for commotion or anything else) and move it around on the timeline to satifaction.
5. Export cause ur done.
