Sollthar,

I never thought I would vote more than 4 for a movie but I have to transgress that and give you a 5 just in recognition for the sheer amount of work that went in the teaser ALONE!

Masterfully executed, I watched it seven times in a row and I am still reeling from the experience!

That was really impressive work my friend, I cannot wait for the rest (when do you think it'll be ready?)

I wanted my next project to be a superhero flick too but the amount of steroids I'd have to eat just to get close to your accomplishment scares the life outta me!

And where did you get that fire footage at the very end? Did you shoot it yourself? I'd really like to know.

eek

PS: Man that was cool! cool

OMFG. Pure awesomeness.

I recall on the release thread for The Test someone asking if the truck was cg. And I recall a certain Sollthar wishing he could do cg that good. All of the cg was freaking awesome. One criticism is that when that bulldozer thing crashes thru the wall randomize the chunks allittle bit more.

Did you use that truck model because it looks like the toy from the test or what?

I cant tell if those guys in black were real or fake. Seriously.

Ah, finally I can reply (site having a little trouble for me today) crazy

Thanks for all the comments so far! I'm glad you enjoy it!

@er-no
Haha, thanks mate! *bows bacl to his buddy*

@jessy
I used Photoshop, Premiere, Cinema4D and AlamDV for the whole Teaser. smile

@JohnCarter
Thanks a lot! Coming from such a talent as yourself I take that as a huge compliment. Thanks a lot!
I am hoping for the film beeing ready within a year. So earliest release date will be summer 2004 I fear.

Haha, I'm sure your superhero film would be Awesome! cool

I can't take credit for the firefootage though. I got that from an Artclips CD that came with a magazine a while back. Tried to reproduce it with own footage, but could not get close to that yet. (If I do, I will replace it)

Absolutely stunning.
Definately one of the best films I have seen on here in a long time!
Still love Rose for pure class & atmosphere but this is totally stunning.
Excellent work Marco & I look forward to seeing the finished project.

You're going to have to give us tutorials on this you know wink

The part where the cam pans down at the end reminds me of the opening credits of spiderman.

WOW how did you do that compositing without AE?!?! I could never do that without ae.

The music is really good. What proggy was it done in?

Sorry Kyeju, didn't see your above post. Wicked Accesproblem crazy

Hah, yeah, I remember that model/CG conversation. I still prefer working with real models... biggrin

Thanks for the tip, yeah, those particles look kind of strange. Mainly because if the direct backlight I think. But yes, in the final film that Tank will have to play a different part. smile
Yeah, it is a CG version of the Same Truck. I used it because I have a real model as well for closeups. smile

The guys in Black are real. Thats all me (lack of actors, just a teaser) biggrin

Compositing is all done in Premiere. If you use it right, it is pretty powerful too :=

The Music is done with Sibelius. I'll ask Robin (the composer) to tell you more details.

@Edins Vampire
Thanks a lot for the compliment!

Yeah, I may do a couple of tutorials on the shots in that Teaser... wink

Yeah...premiere can be very effective in doing a lot when you know what you want...all of my title work is done in premiere, with only a few exceptions leaning into AE...but that's happened about 2 times. People seem to comment on my titles/credits being nice so i think it's pretty important to say that you can achieve very nice results with premiere. You'll see soon on something that's been waiting for my lazy ass to edit for about 8 months now where i only use photoshop and premiere for the titles...sollthar, tarn and a few others have seen bits of what i'm talking about and seem to like it.

anyway sollthar...for the 'low' score of 4...well, that's because i found that long begining shot to be utterly pointless...and it reminded me too much of spiderman...which is not really a good thing. The part that kicked ass was when the cam went into the barrel and came out with the shells....so freaking nice...i can keep watching that even after...well, i've stopped watching it i guess? That, and the end fire title i dont like. seems...well, cruddy to me.

Great job though!

This was an awesome teaser. That's what makes people want to go see a movie a year before the movie is set to come out! Nice and short, doesn't show too much, but gives you an impression of what the action will be like, good music, and a catchy title. Very, very good job. I only wish I had the patience to learn a 3D program, and I wish I had the experience needed to make such a great "glimpse". You and JohnCarter have set the bar for teasers on FXHome.com as far as I'm concerned. Nothing else will compare, and people will be working extrememly hard to get to this level. My hat's off to both of you.

Sollthar, the teaser was beyond exellent.

although i did have an idea of what was in it before wink

It's always a 5 star vote when its an NCC production.

I think you mentioned Fabian playing the hero. What would an NCC movie be without him as the hero, and of course the ruler of evil as the villain.

Good luck to all the NCC team!

Not much to comment on, all been said. smile

top vote of 4 ( I only give a max of 4 for trailers sad

Anyway the thing that make Sollthar stand out from the crowd, is not his FX's but the way he can do a films like ROSE and Face 2 Face, then change his style to make a dark gritty comicbook film.

Changing styles is hard to do, and Sollthar does it well.

Unfortunately, this heroin-like trailer has now got me wanting more. Think i'll go mug some grannies for their cash, and donate it all to you, or something.

Totally Amazing.

I must say I really think Cypher is going mad - the start shot is great, and being like Spider-man wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Being like DareDevil - now that would be a bad thing.

As for the flames, I think they are probably the best use of fire behind a title that I've ever seen.

Love it...

eek god damn Marco that was some AWESOME stuff, loved every part of it, the CGI was brilliant, i liked the darkness of the superhero, for me the best way to show batman was being the dark knight as he was called and not seen everywhere he went in like the last two films, but that my good sir was very impressive and im sure with your talent will shock us all when it finally arrives.

Thanks for the comments!!

@Jessy
Uh... That is kind of hard to answer. I think C4D is relativly easy to use compared to other 3D apps I have had a look at. But as it is a 3D app it is still pretty hard in general. At least for some...

@Cypher
You're right. Premiere can be effective. It's easy to combine with Photoshop, thats good.
Heh, it's a Visual Concept Teaser. Every shot has the same "point". To show what we intend to achieve visually... wink

@Aculag
Thank you very much! Yeah, 3D needs patience. But I would give it a try. When you start you can hardly stop as soon as you get your first sphere... biggrin

@ilykdp
heh, thank you very much ilykdp! it's not sure who plays the hero yet, but it would be great if Fabian is interested (he's in austalia right now, sow he hasn't seen anything yet) to NightCast in NCCs NC... C...NC... crazy

@b4
Thanks a lot! Don't worry, I take the 4 with great happiness... biggrin

@Xcession
Hey, great! Only thing missing there is a cameo of the Star Wars kid, eh? biggrin

@Andy
Thanks! Well he os not really a normal "hero". Basically he is just less evil than the villain... smile

@Schwar
lol. Thanks a lot! That Daredevil Intro was done with Cinema4D too. smile

@Kram
Thanks a lot! I was hoping to show that NC is a dark hero, and that not only because he actually IS dark... smile

Not necessarily, Spider-Man is too silly for it's own good. I think raimi is a good director and his sillyness works in movies (ie, army of darkness) but not in Spiderman...the much darker feel of DareDevil was very relieving and if anything, NightCast had a dark superhero feel to it which can be related to DD.

Visually, the opening shot rules...but i don't want to see 20 seconds of some street and it pulling up on a truck? What's the truck there for? Why can't it be a cool super mega ultra blasty space rocket to the max-treme vehicle?

I know its a visual conception...but that shot and the last nightcast title i really did not like.

Heh, I could explain to you why that shot has to end in that car Cypher, but I think I'll save time... I don't. wink

Thanks TAP2!! Thanks a lot! *blushes* redface

I hope the Film can live up to the Teaser Succubus. Or maybe beat it. smile

Haha, yeah. That Shockwave was a fantastic proposition by some talented guy I know... wink

The Bullet hits were a special technique we developed for NightCast. It as a mixture between lifeFx and CG.

That was really great, I really loved the CGI city.
A few questions about it:
-How long did it take you to model it?

-Is it all CGI or are some shots (like the bit
with the truck coming off the bridge) real?

-Why the hell is this trailer so cool?

Well I think that I can state that, that was rather damn good, jolly good show ol' chap. Crazy bald guy with beretta's, nice to see smoke when a gun is fired, I rarely see that these days. All them blokes in black balaclavas, I have some scenes in my film in which there's loads of people dressed like that with guns. (I didn't steal it off you, I started filming that bit months ago, honest smile ) Nice flamy words at the end, impressive stuff no doubt.

In fact if I saw this in a cinema i wouldn't realise that it wasn't a trailer to another multi million dollar hollywood film. (well I wouldn't 'cos I've already seen it, but if I was struck down with amnesia or something, or just plain old forgot, although it's unlikely that i'd forget that easily ,so I think it'd have to be amnesia or something, that reminds me did you see "The Bourne Identity" that was good, anyway if I went to the cinema, shortly after having obtained amnesia from.. oh let's say a brick to the head, although if I'd forgotten everything, then how would I be able to find the cinema, I didn't think this through. Ok let's say that if.... Ok I'll shut up now.)

Sorry couldn't resist. I'm waiting for DXM to dowload, so all I can do is write Monty Python style reviews.

God I know how that feels.

I started to download the big file. Got to 41% and watched the 4 minutes I'd downloaded. Absolutely stunning. But now there is a smaller file and I'm getting that. Woot.

Anyway I've already mentioned how good this is Solth. But I'm gonna say again.

It rocks. The music is great as well. It's stuff like this that makes me want to father your children.

Very well put together... Nice opening sequence which drops you right into the action. Good use of effects and tidy editing. All of this means nothing however, unless there's eventually going to be a decent movie with a decent story. 4 for creativity, skill and effort and because it was only a trailer. smile

Thanks for all the great comments! it is much appreciated!!!

It took 6 days to model the opening shot and 4 days to render it... smile

Many things are real in the other shots actually, most stuff is a composit (eg, the Cg car with the cg dust and cg wall pieces, but the rest is real footage)

Heh, thanks Two Gunned! Yeah, Smoke is important. People understimate the power of the smoke! *yodavoice* biggrin

Hehe! Gun Barrel camera shot was done in Dardevil... When he hears a bullet move into the chamber, the camera goes inside the gun and we see the motion of the bullet moving in...

I can't wait for this myself!

Greetings...
Some shots of the tank used in the teaser:

Tank Model 01
Tank Model 02
Tank Model 03
Tank Model 04

Not the best stuff I' ve seen, but I think it' s okay for the teaser...

"

"The Replacement Killers" also had a camera inside a gun for when a bullet is chambered. But it didn't fly down the barrel and come out of the ejection port like in this.

A five star teaser! Only problem is that we're gonna need extra stars to rate the full movie - I can't wait...

Tsui Hark did that before in TIME AND TIDE, a HK action movie from 1999.

This teaser definitely looks professional. But I don't like the fonts you used. It looks cheap. I also don't like the orange background (again looks cheap to me) and this lens flare effect. And the bad guys look fake.

4 point from me. Trailers shouldn't get more.

Thanks a lot for the replies! I'm glad you like the teaser!

We'll be producing a short independent "Prologue" to NightCast first for the search for money. Hope it will be done within the next months time! Will post it for sure. smile

That was probably one of the best trailers that I have seen on here so far. Actually felt like I was watching one in the theater. I do agree with one of the eariler posts of the fonts could be better but other than that very well done.

Sollthar,

As we discussed in the Chat, I still can't get the Divx version to work (apparently my machine doesn't have the ADPCM audio codec that is SUPPOSED to be standard for windows) sad .

However, I have watched the other versions and I have to say that I think you should be forced to leave the FXHome community. You are far too good at what you do and your films are far superior to the rest of ours and you make us feel small. It's not fair! Stop being so bloody good!

I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU, I HATE YOU!!!

Some very impressive work here, and if it wasn't for the fact that the occasional shot or special effect betrays the origins of this trailer, one could easily be fooled into thinking that they are witnessing the next Hollywood blockbuster. So top marks to the people who made this trailer for really whetting one's appetite for the feature film. I look forward to its release!

I did that in Cinema4D. Allthough this is quite an old version of the shot. The final shot is going to look a lot better! Trust me. smile
