Stargate liquid wall crossing

Hi, i would like to know how can i make the effect of someone crossing the stargate with a wall of water, like in the movie of roland emerich. i know how to make the water very realistic, but i donĀ“t know the way to do the people cross that wall.

There is another way if you can't use a bluescreen

In my 3rd stargate film i was in a field and filmed 4 guys walking, then i went back and added the gate over them.
then in after effects i then added the first oringal footage and masked each person as they came through

the results can be seen the this episode
