In the near future after the pain and anguish of a 3rd world-war, the USA military forcefully takes control of the American government. Outraged by this many of the USA's former allies declare war against the leader of the army, leading into WW4. The USA comes out victories and is not bothered, until one young man starts a group known as The Sons of Liberty, named after a group in the American Revolutionary war. This man, Joel Carson, leads this rag-tag group of guerilla fighters into many raids and hit-and-run attacks, most of which only cause short-term damage.
Then Will Grant a teenage boy whose father is a key member of the USA’s Military joins The Sons of Liberty secretly, and helps them in similar skirmishes. But relatively soon after Will joins, The Sons secret base is attacked. Will, being that his father is a member of the enemy, is immediately framed. Will in order to clear his name must help his comrades take, Jackson Grant, his father hostage. Their raid is successful and makes the military understand The Sons threat.

The end is not finished yet but I am going for a post WW2\armageddon feel. I know a major city gets H-bombed and that the main characters all die in the explosion. Any ideas would help! biggrin

Hmm, in the current political climate it may not be a good idea to release now, as America's former allies obviously turn on the US army, which may be perceived to be unpatriotic at the moment. Just might be a bit dodgy...Anyone else think this? Just a thought.

But it does sound a very powerful idea, and if it doesn't offend anyone I'd like to see it soon! Sounds as though it's got great scope and I'd work on it hard if I were you as it has potential if done in the right way.

If the main characters all die, what is the meaning of the film, and have the Sons of Liberty accomplished their aim or does their deaths cause people to rethink things so their death is an enduring warning/legacy?

The movie is going to be patriotic in that the Sons of Liberty want America back to normal, they even carry the old American flag. The war is against the American Military not the USA. It will hopefully not be "Unpatriotic" but instead PATRIOTIC. The Sons of Liberty do not overcome but do a whole lot of good.

You'll also be infringing on a major copyright. Metal Gear Solid: Sons of Liberty; Konami Entertainment.

They declare war on the military not the goverment. Many senetors and even the President do not completly go along with the military.

Well, as long as you show that the military are going against the constitution, and all the ideals of America, & that the Sons of Liberty are fighting to re-establish these ideals, then you should be ok then biggrin

wink Funny Mell. Oh and it is a sort of drama\action movie. Though the main charecters die, after their deaths they are looked at as great heros who in the end helped get everything back to normal. sort of like people built the rest of the building on a cornerstone they laid.

hmmm intersting Idea. Here's a thought:

Obviously this film is still in very early planning stages. Im not sure if your going to stick with the name the "American Military" for the bad guys. Its just seems kind of weird to me that the Sons of Liberty would be fighting the American Military tard Instead maybe you should have it so once the American Military takes over they change thier name to something else to something more "Nazi"ish. Im sure if you get what I'm saying but, hey just a thought.

lol?

you should give some backdrop info on what happened in ww3...and maybe the process and procedure on how the military succesfully overthrew the government as seeing the US government and military is controlled by 1 person, the president.

As for the sons of liberty idea i think that is totally bad ass and an original idea, and i commend you on that.

I hope your film comes out as good as it sounds!

I like the idea. It's very Star wars like in plot. (Tho, Star Wars in itself is a far cry from original) Here are some similarities: Martial law is declared making the military the rulers of the nation (The Empire). Other factions not liking it and declaring war on this new govenment by hit and run techniques and small scrimishes (The Rebellion) The son of a military leader secretly helping the Sons of Liberty.. (Princess Leia, A Senetor in the Empire secretly helping the rebellion.).. Very similar in idea. But I think it could work out very well.

You should take a page from Lucas and read up on the the Hero Cycle.. Try "Hero of a Thousand Faces" By Joseph Campbell. (I think that's the title) Using the classic archtypes for your characters would really keep things moving along, as well as help you plot out the story.

Sounds like a good idea keep us posted to how the project goes... smile

hmm the only thing that makes this seem so unrealistic is that the US military "easily" defeats all the other nations of the world... and then somehow a "rag tag" group of rebels can take down this super powerful military?

you NEED something to explain this, or change it. Cause as soon as you have something unbelieveable like that it automatically discredits the movie. Just a thought! Otherwise sounds interesting.[/i]

From the sound of it, the Sons of Liberty he's referencing is just a tad older then Metal Gear Solid 2. wink

Hey,

I had this idea a long time ago..... It's so funny coming back to look at it!

Thanks for the input. I am actually in the process of doing a different movie. Sons of Liberty was sort-of a childish whim.

However, one day I would like to attempt making it. The story has changed allot so some of the things I mentioned before aren’t super relevant. The movie has changed; now one main focus would be how the Sons have to avoid getting “microchiped” so as to remain secret. As you can see the story has changed dramatically, I don’t even know if “Will Grant” will have a part in the story.

Thanks!!!

I don't like the idea. Sounds a bit too complicated, political, and confusing.
