Although there werent very many effects in this movie besides the tv, I still liked this cause it was pretty scary. Its something I have thought about alot since 9/11 and I hope it never happens. Good job tho. 4

I agree, some parts of it just hit you and think, my god what IF this happend, there would really be no word for how scared people would be feeling, and certain parts of it were a little scary, well done.

Thank you for your comments.

They always say write about what you know and like you, I have thought about this many times and feel like I know.

How scared would I be? How would I react?

Probably the same as the two guys in the film.

I agree, i don't know what but something about that freaked me out..
You got all the elements of horror in there, especially the power going out at the end, and the background noise of the bombs and the fact that all the tv channels were changed to sky news (thought of that one before to).

There are some ways in which you could have improved it, when i started watching the beggining titles I thought, not another crappy film. You could have improved the opening rather than "the end".

I think the bit with the car and the bomb was slightly poor, not to disencourage your efforts but i think it would have been even more scary if you never saw the bomb (apart from the end)
The sky news thing was very realistic.

If you see what i mean, you could "neaten" it up a bit and it really would be very professional.

4 Stars, excellent movie.

O and by the way, aren't those pizzas so nice (the one you were eating in the house smile )

I think you're right about not seeing the Bomb until the end, it would have worked better being more psychological than physical. Maybe I'll cut a version without it.

In fact my original script didn't have that scene in it. It was added in after I bought alamdv and I thought I could do a more effects filled film.

good movie but i do think u over used some words in it.......

the car thing i would agree would have been better without the turn thing, but maybe not showing it or just filming the scene from the other direction so that u could see the impact...that would be cool.... anyway, 4 stars.

not a sucky movie at all really...

I watched this movie without reading the description, for some reason. Which meant I had no idea what it was about. So there I was, watching these two guys back from a good night out, relaxing...I didn't suspect a thing.

When they heard the TV bulletin, it was astonishingly effective. I became totally gripped, and it was remarkably atmospheric and frightening stuff.

thats exactly what i was trying to say biggrin

if i were you, i'd include the car bit but don't show the bomb exploding. Just have the two guys stare in horror with a soundfx panning in.

I thought this film was awesome. I could feel myself get goosebumps at times becuase it was that good. As for editing and cinemetogrophy( I hoped it spelled right), I thought for the most part was really good and very close to professional. This short film desrves a 4 in my book smile

Great Job guys

ps. The only objection I have towards this film was the end. The characters and the mood were developed too good for it to be ended that quickly.
Otherwise, I loved it.

I thought it was good right up until the end, I hated the end. But other then that, great movie, it should have been longer, but other then that, great! 3 stars from me. smile

I agree with slip, the ending was kind of poor...but the rest of it was very good. The depiction of fear in the two men was dead-on, I thought. The couch scene: "Oh that's alright, I'm not hungry..." part was very funny. 4 stars. Keep up the good work!

Very much a short. Like most said, scary tone. confused Nicely done.

Bad thing? Just the way it ended. The other part was the rumbling sound that was left to play out. Didn't like it. neutral I would've done this:

"Where can we go!? What can we d-"... He's cut off mid-sentence. Everything has cut to black. eek

IMO, that would've served that end part well. I'd also have had them rush out into the hallway outside the flat and then rush back in. Pure panic and confusion.

Btw, what's with the 9m 20secs of video, then a blank 2mins of nothing? Methinks you should upload it again without this error. Makes it easier for those with slower connections.
Overall, it was a very nice change to see something like this on AlamDV.

Thanks for the input. smile

I'm gonna be making a DVD with three of my short films on it, including The End.

I have been thinking about re-cutting The End, before I put it on the DVD and you guys have given me some good ideas on what's working and what's not working.

P.S sorry about the 2mins of blank at the end. didn't notice that untill i uploaded it. I think there was a rouge sound file on the time line when I outputted it. confused

lol... "THE END Special Edition"
That'd grab some attention biggrin

Remeber.. a film can never be perfect. You can keep on editing it as close to perfect as you want.. but if you goto far you ... "over do it"
I'd reccomend you do that.

Great film! Story wise it has to be the best one around here, but I have a thing for everything that has to do with the end of civilisation etc.

Could do with some small refinements in some places but I cant understand what some people don't like about the ending.

Great acting.

Marsupilami, between me and you, I really like the ending too.

I can see why some people don’t like it, because it’s so sudden, but that was the way I wanted it. Cos if it really did happen and you were close enough, that’s how quick it would be. that’s what I was trying to get across.

One minute you’re here, the next you’re gone. Just like that. No time to think about what just happened.

Icken9 -

I really enjoyed this, and not because of the slow suspense built or the apocalyptic nature of the story, though they helped make this movie more enjoyable. What I really enjoyed about your movie is the acting. Without hesitation, I would have to say the acting is far superior to most all outings in the cinema. Before I get flamed note that I said *most* smile The relationship between the two friends flowed naturally and never seemed forced. Bravo again for the acting.

The TV sequences were also very well done. I also agree that the ending is appropriate because what else could happen? BOOM and nothing fits nicely.

Overall a great job in creating an atmospheric and stylish piece!

All I can say is, I have looked at about half the films on this site and without a question of doubt, this has to be the BEST one so far.

The acting was superb.

The editing was excellent.

The camera work was near professional.

I know this is a F/X site, but if the others took as much time to work on the story, acting, editing and camera work and mixed it with some of the great F/X on this site, there would be some excellent films showcased here.

Keep up the good work. 5 stars.

Outstanding. Very pro. The only thing I would have done different would be to dimly light the apartnment when the lights went out; just so you could see them panicking. Kind of a "night-to-day" effect, if you are old enough to have heard of that one. Maybe a candle prop, or a light-leak through the window?

A thought: How about shortening the credits and putting them in the title sequence... then when the bomb goes off, and just after the color bar scene, the real end of the film...

Anyway, congratulations. Very nice work and I really liked it.

Amazingly depressing. This is the reason films are band from the theaters. Or put on hold for further pending. But it was pretty decent.
