After looking at a new test on the cinema and seeing high ranked votes (Ie 4 - 5) suggests that the film should be equivalent as other movies such as any of the stargate movies B4 had made, The Test or Legend of Sollthar, DXM, or any other high ranked movies.
However in terms of plot, or effects and editing etc etc etc etc, it doesn't compare. A short test that can be completed in a day or so should not even be looked at in the same way as one that took months to do.
I know this has been discussed a bunch of times before, but I would just like to throw it out again.
I suggest, when someone uploads a movie, they should classify it as a specific type of movie, I.E. SHorts- Tests- full length, or any others.
This way, when someone votes on a movie that is in the "TEST'" catefory it will be considered in comparison to the other tests. Therefore being able to find the # 1 test effect etc. Same thing with shorts and other films. At least seperating tests from "real" films. Tests and shorts are very difficult to compare and give ratings according to what it encompasses. a 4 on a test because "I dont give tests five" means that the test was equivilent to ANY movie that has a 4 rating regardless of length, effects, acting, lighitng, editing, music or any other elements?
I suggest when you upload a movie, you choose which category you want it entered into for voting puposes. This way, if you make a test, you can put it in the tests and see how well you test compares to others'.
if you make a full out film, it wont be compared with tests and only others' of it's content..
just an idea
what do you people (community members and CSB ppl) think?

er, you mean like thishttp://fxhome.com/cinema/archive.php?sortby=1&order=0&limit=50&testfilter=0&catid=21
or am i missing something?
We know many people are not interested in tests, which is why we provided a way to filter out test movies from the archive. If you only want to see the highest voted movies in certain categories you can easily adjust the archive sort options

malone, I think they are trying to say they want the tests automatically filtered out of the Gold User Top 10, and put into it's own Top 10.

I think its a case of you can only please some of the people some of the time
At one point when designing the new site we had various charts showing different things. In the end we decided it was overkill and far too complicated for new users to figure out. Which is why we cut it down to one main chart.
We realise everyone has different ideas about how movies should be ranked which is why we added lots of features to the archive. You can sort and filter the movies into many different rankings, and create your own personal charts the way you wanna see them.
One thing that might be missing from the archive is the ability to filter out movies over 30 days (like the gold chart does). I could be persuaded to add this in for people who want to rank movies similar to the gold chart but also filter out test movies.

I think the current "filtering" system works just fine as it is. I'm totally happy with it. When you want to view only tests, you select tests, when you don't want to see them, you put on the test filters...
Can't be more complicated than that, both for old and new users!!!

You're missing the point I think...
The point is the vote itself. To have the ability to vote for a film not just in general, but in different aspects (eg. Story, Camera, FX etc).
I think that is what was ment.
It would improve the voting system much, as some films (wich are no "tests") rule in certain aspects wich make people give them a 5, but fail completely at others wich are overlooked but would lower the vote as a whole.
Having more to vote on would only improve the cinema I think.
Not genrewise, but you could than for example have a film with best story, with best FX, with best camera, best editing or whatever. Not all films are strong in all those terms and with having only one vote, this is difficult to have.

yeah what sollthar said lol
its hard to vote on movies when they can be soo different. Some films are zero plot 100% effects, others are more plot oriented with effect aids.
I guess it would be very cluttered and weird for new users to the site having soo many options, but an effects voting system then a plot voting system, creativity, etc stuff like that would be cool
