The good:

Nice weapons. Pump action shotgun can't go wrong
The pool dive at the end. Very ott. Just how it should look. Good.
Editing, very slick. Nice fast cuts keep up with the pace of the action.
The muzzle flashes are awesome. Especially from the (I think its an M16)

The bad:

The titles. I couldn't do any better but they just don't...click.
The music when the action kicks in. With a different sound track I reckon it could change the style of this greatly and make it something other than another action flick.

The ugly:

The green at the beginning lol. Nearly made me puke wink

Overall:
3

This is all in my opinion of course and I shall look forward to seeing the full film.

Cheers,
Fight.

I know it's just a teaser but I felt it showed most of the scenes in the film ( might be wrong ) but if the film is a longer version of this then it's not going on my view list ( sorry )

I liked the loud sounds, but think the alamdv fx seemed to bright for the shots.

Nope B4 the teaser left out 2 entire scenes from the film. So the final film is much longer. Trust me, I wouldn't spoil the film with the trailer.

PEACE OUT

PS. B4- the film is not just a longer version of this. It has a pretty well thought out storyline to go with the action. Not just your everyday. I want to kill just cuz I can action movie. There are real motives behind it. So when I release the final film B4 I'd really like to hear your input on it. We go way back you and me, so your oppinions are appreciated.

AND to FIGHT- it's funny that you should mention the OTT pool dive. Becuase the actor who did that was acually jumping from the roof of his house. And it took him about 45 mins of standing there getting over his fear of hieghts to finally jump off. It was a heart pounding day of shooting since I too am afraid of hieghts and had to sit on the roof next to him in order to film. But over the top is was what I was going for and I'm glad you liked it.

This didn't grab my attention nor does the premise look interesting. The teaser is too short to comment on with nothing special in it.

What I did like were the titles though, the fancy letters were sweet.

EDIT: I have a recommendation that everyone should be happy with for your screenshots: deinterlace them. It's quite easy. In photoshop, go to filter>video>deinterlace and set it to either odd or even feilds, doesn't really matter.

I just tried that on various screen shots I have on my computer and I don't notice a difference, except the deinterlaced shots tend to have more jaggies. Mind showing a side by side demenstration? confused

Ah, much better. The shots I were using must of been too still to notice much of a difference. Thanks - biggrin

B4- the answer is NO, there is no swear words in this film, nor are there any in any of my other films. So it's safe to watch with your kids if you don't mind the gunfights.

Cypher- since the trailer is too short for your tastes let me give you and everyone else a quick summary of wut the film is about

SUMMARY: My character "Jason Jones" is the son of an Assasin who was murdered by his employer "AL patrillo. Jason has no idea why he was killed. But for an entire year since the death of his father he has been gaining on the trail of the Murderer by killing other Assasins and getting information out of them. This film takes place a year after the murder where JAson is close to finding out the truth.

I think this one shows real promise. I especially like the confidence of the actor on the screen cause he actually looks like he can act! For that alone, I will be watching. wink

Definitely not your best work...
I've seen you do much better.

The Good:
Excellent editing. That's a strong point of yours. All your films show skills in editing.

Decent pacing. Not the best, but enough to keep interest.

Good angles.

Good music.

Acting looks convincing from what we can judge of the piece.

Some good camera shots. Falling in the pool shot was really nicely framed, a fact given even more wigth in my opinion based on your vertigo story. I can relate to that, so kudos!

The Bad:

Need work on your muzzle flashes my friend. Opacity is not a city in Africa! smile

Deinterlace (already pointed out but it's important - especially for action scenes). What editing software do you use? there should be a deinterlace filter in it if its any good.

Some bad camera work. Some ineffectual angles... Weird. I guess those were made when you weren't the one doing the camera work...

Title work is cool in the beginning but gets worse and worse. The main title at the end is almost unreadable. Find a design that's easy to read, especially when compressed.

The ugly:

Some seriously dodgy camera work.

Build-up doesn't really work. Tension is absent. You did much better with that in Writer's block for example.

Doesn't make me want to see the movie. Doesn't intrigue me... Not boring, far from it, but it did leave me indifferent... Very bad for a teaser...

I will reserve my judgment for the whole film but I must say that I am disappointed ovverall based on your previous work.

WOW! thanks for the load of helpful info John, your reviews are among my most valuble. Seeing as this is the first time I've tried a teaser trailer, I can see how I may need a little work. But I hope you John and everyone else will still look at the full thing on Friday. It's got a whole different feel to it than the teaser.

Thanx!

I'll watch it, simply because your other films have been quite good. But the teaser doesn't cut it, sorry.

okay, i hope matt dosent get mad at me for saying this...
I loved the movie, i saw it in the chat room...
He already submitted it. its out
The trailer- a big mistake i saw was "for one whole year the son of an assain will get his revenge" but i thought he was trying to get his revenge for a year, not getting it for a year...

That wasn't bad. In fact it was quite good, I didn't like the logos on t-shirts or the posters on walls. Action looked like it might be Ok. The place with all the pillars and the pool looked good, like a Drug Baron's house. smile

Nice touch with the religious assassin, looked very John Woo (which is pretty much the highest compliment I can give a film smile )

It looked like the kind of film I'd make, in fact am making. (Not saying that mine'll be as good as yours looked though.)

Needed more though, just an added little bit of oompf, I think it was because it wasn't slick enough, hanging about at night in the rain, slow motion smoking dressed all in black would have helped, but that's just me. Also there was only one character in it. Needed more of a human element to involve the audience I think.

4 stars. Only 'cos I like to vote high, to balance out all the people who vote low. smile

Also did you spell Assassin wrong, or is it just me?
